?? We Broke Free from the Tax Season Grind… and We Celebrated in Style! ?? Last week, the GWCPA team headed to Bobby McKey’s Dueling Piano Bar to raise a glass (and sing along) in celebration of something BIG—shifting tax season as we know it. ?????? For years, we built our lives around the pressure cooker of April 15th—long nights, never-ending hours, and racing the clock just to survive another season. But this year, we did something radical: we filed extensions across the board, giving our team the breathing room they deserve and our clients the service they truly need. We’re proud to say that: ?? We now have more time to focus on complex, high-value client work. ?? We’re investing in our mental health, families, and hobbies. ?? We’re committed to quality over chaos—doing it right, not just fast. This isn’t just a change in pace—it’s a change in mindset. We’re proving that the status quo doesn’t have to stay the status quo. Since this shift, our team has had the time to: ?? Display artwork in local galleries ? Deepen spiritual and community connections ??? Finish home projects and side hustles ?? Dust off old hobbies and actually finish what we start ???????? Be fully present for family (without a looming deadline) ?? And yes—get that glorious full night’s sleep This is the future of GWCPA, and maybe even the future of accounting. We’re no longer defined by one deadline. We’re defined by the impact we make, the balance we embrace, and the lives we get to live outside the spreadsheet. All of it is for the betterment of our team, our clients, the people who never thought that accounting would be something they were interested in, and the profession as a whole. Let’s keep going. ?? #ShiftingTheDeadlines #GWCPA #TaxSeasonRedefined #WorkLifeBalance #NewEraAccounting #TeamCelebration #BobbyMcKeysBound

You Get to Help People & Businesses Thrive Accounting isn’t just about numbers—it’s about making a real impact. From helping businesses grow to guiding individuals toward financial success, we get to be a trusted partner in people’s biggest life decisions. ?? 3. ?? Happy St. Patrick’s Day from GWCPA! ?? Today, we’re feeling lucky to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with our amazing team and clients! ??? While many enjoy the festive green, the history behind this holiday is just as fascinating as the traditions! Here are 5 fun facts about St. Patrick’s Day: ?? 1. St. Patrick Wasn’t Irish! Despite being the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick was actually born in Britain and brought to Ireland as a teenager. He later returned as a missionary and became one of Ireland’s most famous figures. ?? 2. The Shamrock Symbolism Legend has it that St. Patrick used the three-leaf shamrock to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to the Irish. ?? 3. The Original Color Wasn’t Green! Believe it or not, blue was originally associated with St. Patrick. The shift to green came later, inspired by Ireland’s lush landscapes and the shamrock symbol. ?? 4. Corned Beef and Cabbage is an American Tradition While corned beef and cabbage is a popular dish for St. Patrick’s Day, it actually started in America! Irish immigrants adapted their traditional meal to what was affordable and available in their new home. ?? 5. It’s Celebrated Worldwide St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just an Irish holiday! From the U.S. to Australia to Japan, people around the world celebrate Irish culture with parades, festivals, and even dyeing rivers green! (Looking at you, Chicago! ????) Here’s to good luck, great company, and a little bit of Irish cheer! ???? How are you celebrating today? Maryland CPAs are back in Annapolis today! They're joining hundreds of other business leaders throughout the state to testify in opposition to a legislative plan to impose a sales tax on business-to-business professional services. If enacted, CPAs say the tax will burden Maryland businesses with new costs, threaten jobs, reduce economic competitiveness, and ultimately increase prices for consumers. The Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA) urges lawmakers to reject this harmful legislation and instead explore alternative ways to address state revenue needs without stifling business growth. ?? Breaking Free from the Tax Season Grind! ?? This Thursday, we celebrate something big—taking back control of our time, shifting tax deadlines, and proving that the status quo doesn’t have to stay the status quo. ?? The GW Team is heading to Bobby McKey's Dueling Piano Bar to celebrate our "Shifting the Deadlines" commitment we made during our strategic planning trip! For too long, the tax world has revolved around rigid deadlines, shrinking timelines, mounting pressure, and endless stress. But not anymore. Filing extensions across the board has given us the freedom to prioritize accuracy, learning, and work-life balance without the last-minute scramble. ?? More time to focus on clients with unique needs—instead of pushing everything off until "after tax season." ?? More time to invest in our own growth, mental health, and personal lives. ?? More time to do the work right the first time, rather than just racing to the finish line. Yes, we still have work to do, and yes, the next few months will be busy—but now, we tackle it with confidence rather than exhaustion. This shift has opened doors to things we never could have prioritized in a traditional tax season: ?? Spending more time creating art and participating in shows. ? Getting more involved in church and faith-based activities. ?? Helping with house projects that would’ve been put on hold. ?? Simply getting more sleep—which has worked wonders for mental health. ???????? Being present for family and loved ones, especially as a single parent. ?? Picking up old hobbies, like sewing, and even finishing new creations. ?? Exploring & innovating within our work instead of just reacting to emergencies. This shift isn’t just about changing tax season—it’s about changing the way we work and live. It may feel different, but different doesn’t mean wrong. ?? Whether it’s a hobby, time with family, or just well-earned relaxation—your time matters. #NewWayForward #TaxSeasonRedefined #WorkLifeBalance #GWCPA #ShiftingDeadlines #MoreThanNumbers
