#ICYMI: Joyce Maring, EdD, DPT will be teaching and mentoring research projects in the DHSc program?until May 2025. Then, Ellen Costello, PT, PhD, will begin serving as the new program director in January 2025. Dr. Maring held various faculty, administrative, and leadership roles within The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences over twenty years. She began as an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Care Sciences in 2005. During this time, she rose to the role of associate program director, and ultimately the program director. When the department was renamed Health, Human Function and Rehabilitation Sciences in 2013, Maring was appointed the department chair. Dr. Maring transitioned out of her role as the program director of the physical therapy program in 2018 to redirect her focus to launching the Doctor of #HealthSciences (DHSc) Leadership in Clinical Practice and Education program by 2020 and supporting the launch of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program in 2022. In 2023, Dr. Maring was appointed as the executive associate dean for health sciences. We congratulate Dr. Maring on her transition to retirement and thank her for all that she has done for the Leadership in Clinical Practice and Education program. #GWSMHS

I am pleased to announce that I am assuming the responsibilities as the Director of the GW Doctorate of Health Sciences Program in Leadership in Clinical Practice and Education in the new year as my colleague and friend Dr. Joyce Maring transitions into retirement. I look forward to continuing to build on the curricula designed for clinical health professionals from various backgrounds to advance their professional practice in clinical or academic environments. This program is designed for the working professional using authentic learning principles. The culminating deliverable is the publication of original research in a peer-reviewed journal. I look forward to connecting with each of the current DHSc students, welcoming the future professionals who join the program in the Fall, and celebrating the graduates who continue to achieve success post-graduation. #GWSMHS Learn more about the program below:
