Transforming Dementia Care: New Protocols Could Extend Longevity and Delay Nursing Home Admission New Video on Dr. Misha Kogan YouTube Channel: A recent systematic review and meta-analysis published in The BMJ examined survival rates and time to nursing home admission among individuals diagnosed with dementia. Analyzing data from 261 studies encompassing over 5.5 million participants, the study found that median survival post-diagnosis varies significantly with age and sex: Women aged 60: Median survival of 8.9 years. Men aged 85: Median survival of 2.2 years. Additionally, more than half of individuals transitioned to nursing homes within five years of diagnosis. These findings underscore the importance of personalized care planning and early intervention strategies for dementia patients. However, these are patients who went through standard-of-care treatments and have not had metabolic optimization protocols or one of the newest approaches to dementia. As discussed in the video we expect these numbers to change dramatically. https://lnkd.in/eET4cz4E #gwcim #integrativemedicine #dementia #dementiacare #dementiasupport #dementiaawareness #dementia #longevity #longevity #longevitytips #longevitymedicine #Alzheimer #alzheimerscare #alzheimersdisease #aging #agingwell #HealthyAging #alzheimersawareness #nursinghome #nursinghomelife #geriatrics #GeriatricCare #geriatricmedicine #geriatrics #gerontology #gerontologynurse

GWCIM’s ReCODE Program Makes Strong Showing at Walk to End Alzheimer’s Every year, the Alzheimer’s Association hosts fundraising walks in over 600 locations across the country to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. On September 28th, members of GWCIM’s ReCODE (Reversal of Cognitive Decline program) community and their families gathered on the National Mall to show their support. The event raised $814,422 to support the research and education efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association, a leading global health organization focused on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. “I have seen remarkable improvements in many of our members who commit to healthier lifestyles. From increased mental clarity through better nutrition to renewed engagement through regular exercise, these changes often spark a sense of hope and empowerment in both patients and caregivers,” said Sally Novak, who facilitates GWCIM’s dementia support group. GW Center for Integrative Medicine offers ReCODE (tm) program and cognitive decline support group. https://lnkd.in/ehR6PpzJ #WashingtonDC #alzheimerscare #alzheimersawareness #AlzheimersDisease #gwcim #integrativemedicine #ReCODEProtocol #recodeprotocol #alzheimersassociation #nationalmall
