As Women in Construction Week comes to a close, we want to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women across the built environment. From administration and finance to preconstruction, estimating, project engineering, architecture, and project leadership, women are essential in shaping, building, and delivering projects safely and successfully. Their expertise, dedication, and leadership are not just part of the process—they are critical to the success of every project we complete. Together, we rise—this week and every week—honoring the women who build, lead, and inspire. #WIC #WomeninConstruction #WomeninConstructionWeek

Last Wednesday, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Oak Gardens, a MidPen Housing Corporation development in partnership with Van Meter Williams Pollack (VMWP) at the Menlo Park VA. The project will provide 62 affordable homes and two manager’s units for veterans and their families. The development will include 55 homes reserved for households facing housing challenges, with six designated for chronically homeless veterans. Leading field operations on this meaningful project is Senior Superintendent Peyton Kayser, a U.S. Army veteran, bringing both his expertise in construction and his deep understanding of the community this project will serve. This is the heart of our work—helping to create communities where people have the stability and support they deserve. Congratulations to the entire Oak Gardens team, MidPen Housing, Van Meter Williams Pollack, and all partners involved in making this project a reality. We are honored to be part of this effort and look forward to seeing Oak Gardens become a place veterans can call home.

Pardon the dust on South Van Ness but there's a new 168-unit, all affordable housing community coming to the Mission very soon! On Wednesday, the dynamic teams of Mission Economic Development Agency and Chinatown Community Development Center closed on Casa Adelante - 1515 South Van Ness. Thank you to our amazing partners at San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development, JPMorganChase, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, California Department of Housing & Community Development and Raymond James for believing in and supporting our vibrant Mission neighborhood and community. 1515 South Van Ness's 168 homes will include 42 homes set aside to those exiting homelessness, 5 PLUS homes for HIV-positive low-income households, an early childhood education center and a community serving nonprofit space dedicated to the day laborer and domestic worker community here in San Francisco. Wow! All in one building coming in 2027. We could have not gotten to this point without the endless determination and contributions to many talented groups and individuals, including Guzman Construction Group, Marinship Development Interest LLC, David Baker Architects, Y.A. studio, Armando Vasquez, California Housing Partnership, GUBB & BARSHAY LLP, amongst many others who are selfless heroes behind the scenes. Thank you to Laura Elaine Daza García, Warren Ritter J.D. TCS, Joanna Ladd, Angelina R. Perez (She/her/hers), and Dominic Cheng for the continuity of light heartedness and level headedness these past few months. At MEDA, everything we strive to accomplish is grounded in ensuring our community’s and neighborhood's success for generations to come. Casa Adelante - 1515 South Van Ness helps us by getting one step closer to a future where the Mission continues to thrive and to flourish for those who need it the most.
