This past weekend, we wrapped up our final Guy Harvey Conservation Educator Training of the year in beautiful Panama City Beach, Florida! Over two impactful days, educators immersed themselves in the GHF curriculum at the Man in the Sea Museum and experienced hands-on learning at Camp Helen State Park with Dr. Jon Schmidt with Emerald & Forgotten Coast Adventures. At the Guy Harvey Foundation, we believe education and experiential learning are the keys to creating meaningful change. The 2024 Guy Harvey Foundation Collegiate Award Winner - Ceretune LLC, represented by Reid Barnett, Founder and CEO, from North Carolina State University in NC, United States. Ceretune addresses ocean phosphorus and nitrogen through a biodegradable, self-buoyant, non-woven fabric that allows plants to grow from seed on the water, converting the nutrients to biomass. This groundbreaking approach helps prevent nutrient and pollutant runoff from reaching the ocean, ultimately combatting coastal eutrophication.
