One of my biggest assumptions was busted today. As we scale from $1M to $7M ARR in the next 12 months, I was living in this dream world where if you get your PMF, hit a high NPS, and strong retention — referrals and virality will automatically drive most of the business. Just keep talking about yourself on LinkedIn, Twitter —that’ll drive most of the growth. While this is partly true, it is hard to influence organic channels with capital. Some of the best products and services of the world acquired customers (still do) through paid marketing and outbound GTM channels. Airbnb, Uber, Facebook, Hubspot, Salesforce—all good examples. Even ChatGPT, which feels like organic virality, spent millions in paid influencer marketing. This is where the biggest leverage of growth capital comes in — expensive yet impactful GTM channels + kickass product to support the GTM motions. We have tried setting up ad campaigns on our own from first principles, but it is now clear that several great companies have almost made a science out of it and we need to tap into that science. Hence, to make performance marketing a scalable GTM funnel, we are hiring a solid B2B performance marketing ninja [open to hiring a consultant]. > You must have handled a B2B Services ad account for a significant period. > You must have managed atleast $20-$30k in monthly ad spend > You must be on top of the funnel numbers of your most successful campaigns. > You must have a reasonable sense of Google, Meta and Linkedin > You must have a good sense of creatives that work well across platforms. > You must be really GOOD with analytics.
