One of our favorite fall activities (besides tree planting!) is attending the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's Chesapeake Watershed Forum. It is a watershed-wide event that inspires and empowers local action towards clean water. We can't wait to hear what the GVC crew learned at Forum this weekend!

Saft has been energizing the world for over 100 years. GVC is proud to share that the global battery company’s Cockeysville, MD factory is leading the charge when it comes to implementing sustainable practices on business property within the Gunpowder Watershed. This summer, GVC and 2nd Nature Design + Landscaping created a Bayscape garden along the exterior of two buildings on Saft’s campus. The Bayscape features native plants with leaves and flowers that incorporate the bold red in the Saft logo. The plants will bloom at different times throughout the year to provide a reliable food source for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. The use of native plants will also help the company conserve water once the plants become established. A few non-native, non-invasive trees were chosen for their resilience in an industrial setting and their harmony with the overall native design. GVC looks forward to continuing our work with Saft’s sustainability committee to identify other Bay-Wise solutions that can implemented on site, as well at employee’s homes.
