We shadowed Timothy Keller for a day at work, and here are some snapshots. Hamilton by Gunnebo is based in Milford, USA, on the eastern side of Cincinnati. We’ve been fortunate to have Tim Keller on our team since 2021. What do you do in your role at Hamilton by Gunnebo? ?? I manage the supply chain team, overseeing purchasing and inventory to ensure stable stock levels for production. My work involves building strong vendor relationships for quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, while managing parts production costs to maximise margins. I also create SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) to maintain accurate inventory records and address any inventory discrepancies. Additionally, I support cost-saving initiatives and new product launches by planning inventory for both current and upcoming needs. What is the best part of working at Hamilton by Gunnebo? ?? The people. Hamilton is a close-knit team with a family-like atmosphere, and having everyone under one roof makes it easy to connect in person, whether in an office or on the production floor. We've put great effort into building a strong team, and it’s truly rewarding to see the success that comes from everyone’s hard work. ?? What makes your team successful? ?? Solid communication is essential, not just for my department but for all departments here. How do you see the role of connectivity in the security industry? Market demand for connected security products is increasing fast, and this has been highlighted in recent industry conversations I’ve had. But not everyone knows exactly what to do with connected products. This is why I think it’s important to talk about their role. My view is that, when done correctly, connectivity makes it easier to use security products. Ease of use isn’t just nice to have. Security products only provide effective protection when they are used correctly. And the easier they are to use, the more likely they will be used correctly. I also see connectivity as a driver of scalability and customisation. Connected security solutions allow growing organisations to easily scale up. At the same time, connectivity also enables adaptation to new customer specific needs with software as the vehicle. All of this is made possible by securely connecting products to the cloud and managing them from easy-to-use applications. Gunnebo Entrance Control has been leading the way in connectivity, being among the first in our industry to launch a centralised management app back in 2021. Recent improvements in interoperability with platforms from other vendors continue to open up new possibilities for flexibly and easily maintaining a high level of access control security. Gunnebo Safe Storage is strongly focused on innovation in connectivity as well. We are developing both new connected physical products and apps for centralised management. In this context, I was proud to take part in unveiling a prototype of a new upcoming connected locking solution at Security Essen, which will be showcased at @Intersec 2025 in Dubai.
