?????? Long-time listener, first-time caller alert! ?????? Max Altschuler, Scott Barker and the GTMfund team are some of the best in the business. I've long admired The GTM Podcast (among MANY things they do well), so I had an absolute blast joining Scott for this session focused on the GTM levers to pull when things go WRONG. In my opinion there's plenty of rhetoric out there about playbooking for accelerating hyper-growth, scaling to $100MM ARR, etc. but not nearly enough on how to navigate turnaround situations -- so when Scott asked me what story I wanted to tell on the podcast, I immediately said "a turnaround lesson!" You'll have to tune in to get the whole story, but here's a sneak peek... ?? How to rebuild and regain customer trust after technical failures ?? The criticality of leadership alignment and transparency during times of crisis ?? How aligned compensation plans change the game ?? Why NPS still matters and what it can reveal beneath the surface ?? The value of Customer Advisory Boards (CABs) ? Some bonus tactical ideas on everything from video mailers to user groups https://lnkd.in/ej5H_Uxw

Co-Founder & CEO at Default | Inbound orchestration for revenue teams

Today, I’m incredibly excited to announce Default’s new inbound orchestration platform and an additional $4m in funding led by 8VC. The GTM landscape has changed more in the last five years than in the previous two decades. Teams can no longer afford bloated tech stacks, inefficient workflows, and fragmented data. Winning in this new era requires AI-driven automation, seamless data orchestration, and intelligent routing. We started Default with the vision of building the best platform for revenue teams to orchestrate their inbound workflows, from lead qualification and scheduling to routing and enrichment. Since our public launch a little over a year ago, we've gone from a handful of early customers and design partners to hundreds of fast-growing companies like Hex, OpenPhone, Bland, and lemlist who automate inbound, outbound, and operations workflows with Default. Today’s launch of Default 2.0 unlocks endless new capabilities via website intent and session tracking, AI routing agents, waterfall enrichment, and much more. Here are some of the new features we’re launching today: 1. Website intent that tracks and reveals target accounts who are browsing your site so you route qualified prospects to the right rep at the right time. 2. An AI agent built for lead and account routing, complete with AI territory and segment management. 3. Real-time waterfall enrichment with multiple data providers and AI research agents. 4. A sleek new scheduling experience designed to increase lead-to-meeting conversion rates for inbound and outbound scheduling workflows. We’ve come a long way since we started, and we’re incredibly grateful for our incredible customers and partners who we get to serve, learn from, and work with every day — we wouldn’t be here without you all. You can read more about Default and this launch in the blog post below (link in comments).

Congratulations to Sepehr Fakour, Ned Cartmell and the DocUnlock team on announcing their $3M pre-seed round! ?? Customs brokerage and international shipping have long relied on manual, time-consuming processes. DocUnlock is changing that with cutting-edge generative AI, automating workflows for brokers and eliminating inefficiencies. Filing customs forms typically requires hours of sifting through emails and documents to gather compliance data. DocUnlock automates this entire process — extracting critical information, aligning it with a customer's SOPs, and integrating directly with clearance platforms and ABI systems to generate error-free customs forms. Big things ahead. We're proud to have led the round and to support the team in transforming the industry.

Big news - DocUnlock is on TechCrunch! An exciting milestone, as we announce our recent fundraise and observe the impact our product is having, transforming the businesses of customs brokers everywhere. Link to the story in the comments below. Big thank you to Rebecca Szkutak, senior reporter covering venture and startups at TechCrunch and previously Forbes, for highlighting how DocUnlock is automating away the most costly and time-consuming pain point for customs brokers: the (previously) manual & tedious work of entry-writing and document processing! Special thanks to Nicolas Dessaigne, Peter Kazanjy, Scott Barker, Sophie Buonassisi, Paul Irving, Max Altschuler and the whole GTMfund team, Nathan Cooper, Rob Schoder, Jr., Pukar C. Hamal as well as all of our amazing advisors, angel investors, and friends, for your boundless support and for seeing the vision of how we can dramatically improve the supply chain to be easier, cheaper, and more efficient. Finally and most importantly, a MASSIVE thank you to all of our wonderful customers and our unbelievably talented and dedicated team - the people with whom we have the pleasure of working everyday. Ned Cartmell, Cyrus F, Jack Moberger and I are immensely grateful for the privilege of partnering together with you! Let us know what you think in the comments! ??

It was a real privilege to appear on this podcast and talk about when and how to hire your first few AEs. A few things to pull out from the episode in case you don't want to hear my rambling voice or watch my overly gesticulating hands: 1. Your first AE hires should be smart, curious, and very bought in to your company's vision. Hire more than one at first, to learn which sales approaches are most effective, and to increase your own 'rate of learning' via these new teammates. 2. It's rarely better to hire a true 'industry veteran' in an early AE role, even if your industry is specialized, than in getting some of those folks as informal advisors and equipping a 'tech native' seller with that specialized knowledge. Partly this is because you're re-inventing much in your industry, and partly because smart people can ramp up very quickly in a new vertical or domain (and the ability to do so tests for curiosity anyway!). 3. Customer obsession remains the single most important characteristic (IMHO) of outlier founders and early AEs, especially in the rapidly-evolving world of AI-for-everything. Some of the most successful founders in our portfolio (like Chris Turlica of MaintainX) remain customer obsessed even when their businesses grow, and it's this single-minded focus on customer problem solving that ultimately yields great sales outcomes.
