Transparency in hydrogen’s #carbon footprint is essential for accountable #hydrogen markets. Last week during #COP29, the Open Hydrogen Initiative’s Zane McDonald moderated a panel on hydrogen’s role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries. The discussions in Baku highlighted that economic growth and emissions reduction aren’t a trade-off; they must go hand-in-hand to build a sustainable future. Leaders emphasized that framing climate action as an economic advantage can drive both ambitious policies and resilient solutions. Bridging the gap between technology, policy, and markets to maximize the impact of climate solutions
Grateful to Climate Action Innovation Zone for the chance to be part of an engaging discussion at the Hydrogen Innovation Summit during #COP29 with industry leaders Irina Gorbounova , Markus H.-P. Müller, and Thomas Koch Blank, Fabio Passaro, & Haimeng Zhang. In a season of volatility, anchoring climate discussions in the priorities of readiness & prosperity help to ensure durable progress on decarbonization. Framing decarbonization within the context of broader priorities—such as economic resilience and workforce readiness—can empower support across sectors and inspire the partnerships and investments required to deploy hydrogen at scale. Our exchange brought out valuable perspectives on hydrogen infrastructure, investment strategies, and the transition to a resilient, decarbonized economy. It’s through conversations like those at #COP29 that we bridge the gap between vision and action, and I’m honored to contribute to the dialogue.
