The Department of Defense recently marked a significant milestone in the evolution of CMMC contracting rules. On October 11, the Department of Defense released a final rule to formalize the requirements, assessment processes, and related governance for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) into the contracting framework. This initiative represents a critical effort to enhance cybersecurity standards, focusing on securing controlled data within unclassified networks. The new changes aim to embed CMMC requirements into the Pentagon's contracts and solicitations, offering a structured approach to verify compliance with essential cybersecurity protocols. This step signals the DoD's commitment to elevating cybersecurity measures across its contracts ecosystem, ensuring the safeguarding of sensitive information. Andrea is a Contracts and Grants specialist with 18 years of experience in the federal government space. She received her Master’s in Public Administration and Policy from Villanova University and has achieved her CPCM designation through the National Contract Management Agency. Andrea began her career as a Dept of the Army intern and continued her career for the Undersecretary of Defense at Washington Headquarters Services at the Pentagon.
