? GT SHPE Shines at the National Convention in Anaheim, California! ? This year, the Georgia Tech Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers attended the National Convention with a record-breaking 209 members—the largest delegation in our history! This achievement was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of Dean Raheem Beyah, Valentina De La Fe, and the incredible CEED Office, Cedric Trice, MBA, MPA and Veda Chandler, J.D.. ?? Our Accomplishments: - 64% of attendees secured at least one interview. - 240 interviews conducted during the convention. - 34 offers received on-site! A huge shoutout to our National Convention Logistics Team, Eliezer Zavala González and Catalina Segura, for their outstanding efforts in coordinating this event and ensuring it was a resounding success. Your dedication and hard work truly paid off! We’re so proud of our members for their professionalism, ambition, and drive to represent GT SHPE at the highest level. This convention highlighted not only our growth as a chapter in 36 years, but also our impact within the professional and academic community. Here’s to many more milestones together! ????

As part of our SHPE Jr. program, members visited Cristo Rey Jesuit High School High School to offer students valuable information about discovering careers, specifically in STEM. Our members mentored the students and offered them valuable advice about their career path at Tech. We hope you all learned a lot from this panel!

At the end of October, we hosted an impactful Career Forum, welcoming representatives from 9 leading companies to our campus for an exclusive networking event with our members. This forum provided a valuable opportunity for members to practice their networking skills before the National Convention. Thank you to our dedicated members and to all our sponsors (HDR, Caterpillar Inc., Bank of America, GE, Honeywell, Goldman Sachs, Intuit, Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP), and Arcadis) for making this event a success!

To conclude Hispanic Heritage Month, we created this video to showcase the importance of “fútbol” and how GT-SHPE students, besides reaching for professional and academic goals, are connected by this sport. The Mini World Cup, in collaboration with the?Intercultural Student Programs, is one of the key events that allows students to be reminded of home and play the sport that joins all Latin-American countries. A special thanks to Jorge Breton for all the effort put into organizing this event and for keeping the Mini World Cup tradition for so long. We are so proud of how much it has grown from the past 15 years, as other organizations are starting to participate in the event, such as GT-BRASA. We also want to thank CEED - Center for Engineering Education and Diversity at Georgia Tech and the Office of Minority Educational Development (OMED) for their ongoing support towards hispanic culture!

Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to host Sandra Cauffman, an inspiring Costa Rican leader who shared her remarkable journey with us. Despite facing numerous challenges, she persevered and is currently NASA’s Deputy Director for the Astrophysics Division. Her story deeply resonated with many SHPEtinas, encouraging them to pursue their dreams, just as Cauffman once dreamed of "going to the moon." This event was a milestone for our SHPEtinas program, inspiring our members to reach for the stars.

Last week, GT SHPE had the PEP mentorship program kickoff! About 100 PEPies (mentees) and PEPos(mentors) gathered to discuss the networking opportunities and skill development workshops that PEP has to offer. A special thanks to our SHPE Jr. Coordinator, Paola Colon Velez, and to our PEP Chairs, Marina Godinez and Raymundo Ruben Ruiz Leyva, for all your hard work and dedication towards the success of this program!

Last week, GT SHPE had its very first GT-SHPEtina event! SHPEtinas met to discuss GT-SHPE’s new program and upcoming events for this academic year. We’re super excited to have a group where our SHPEtinas can find community and feel supported.

Today GT-SHPE hosted its first general body meeting with Procter & Gamble! Reflecting on SHPE's 50th Anniversary and GT-SHPE's 36 years on campus, GT-SHPE's founding president, Erick Jimenez discussed his legacy and GT-SHPE's future legacy.

This past Week of Welcome, GT-SHPE hosted its annual Around Atlanta event in which the GT-SHPE Executive Board and Senior Board of Directors welcomed new students to campus. In this event, incoming students learned more about Atlanta, GT-SHPE, and its upcoming opportunities like our Kickoff and mentorship program, PEP!
