A recent study from Learning Heroes revealed that most parents think their child is doing much better in school than they actually are. Why, when students are graded? Unfortunately, good grades don’t = grade level understanding. So much of modern grading is based on class participation, competition of homework, or classroom behavior rather than true subject mastery. #education

Since the Y2K panic, we’ve had many more developments: cell phones, then smartphones; voice-activated devices in our homes; and now, perhaps the most exciting and nerve-wracking of all: artificial intelligence. Computers, the Internet and mobile devices have improved our lives in amazing ways. AI is next.

Chris Dede, a professor at Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Lydia Cao, postdoctoral fellow, both feel that AI can compliment our current education system, rather than replace it. Learning Heroes conducted a national survey that revealed startling numbers: for most parents, there is a significant disparity between how they think their student is doing in math, and how they are actually doing. As a country, we are seeing the most significant declines in math scores since they began being assessed nationwide in 1990, over 30 years ago.
