The Chamber is excited to march again in the annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade this Saturday, November 16, in downtown Silver Spring! Join us in welcoming The Little Gym of Silver Spring to the Chamber and the business community! The Chamber welcomed The Little Gym Silver Spring to the Silver Spring business community this weekend with a certificate presentation and a ribbon cutting ceremony. Located at 10723 Colesville Rd., Unit 210, (above California Tortilla - around backside of building) the gym provides children ages 4 months to 12 years old to learn and grow through movement-based learning and imaginative play. September was a busy time for the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce! In 30 days alone, we hosted 4 networking events, 1 signature event, multiple committee meetings, attended open houses and performed ribbon cutting ceremonies, tabled at 5 community events, and so much more. On September 6, we hosted Sen. Craig Zucker and Del. Bernice Mireku-North for a Panel Discussion on their current legislative efforts in Silver Spring at the DARCARS Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Silver Spring. On September 10, our Owners & Entrepreneurs Circle celebrated Silver Spring’s entrepreneurial spirit with Entrepreneurs Evening: A Panel, Conversation, and Celebration where local business owners shared life lessons and experiences building successful businesses at the Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring Cultural Arts Center. Chamber staff spent September 15 celebrating the area’s rich Ethiopian business community at the 2024 EthioAmerican Business and Industry Show. Members and non-members were treated to an informational deep-dive into Chamber membership and benefits at the GSSCC101 on September 17 and then attendees gathered at Arts on the Block for a Business After Hours sponsored by United Bank on September 18, where they enjoyed growing their connections and participating in interactive art activities. GSSCC VP of Member Relations Daniel Oliver witnessed the grand opening of Montgomery College’s new Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building on September 19 and GSSCC Marketing Manager Julie Pawlikowski and GSSCC Board Member Debbie Keller of Capital Bank represented the Chamber at the 2024 Burtonsville Day on September 21. After months of preparation, the Chamber held it’s 2024 Annual Business Golf Classic on September 23 at Hampshire Greens Golf Course. Sandy Spring Bank took home first and second place with Adventist White Oak Medical Center nabbing third. On September 25, the Economic Development Committee hosted Montgomery County Department of Permitting Director Rabbiah Sabbakhan and Chris Allen, Manager III. Members gathered for a delicious meal and the chance to promote their companies at the Chamber’s Connect@Lunch at Mi Rancho Restaurant on September 26. September 27 saw the Chamber celebrating the new DoubleTree by Hilton Washington DC - Silver Spring Starbucks with a certificate presentation and ribbon cutting ceremony. Later that same day, the Chamber joined Councilmember Kate Stewart and the Silver Spring Regional Services Center, plus many members, for the 2nd Annual Buckets and Beats Silver Spring Youth Block Party at Veterans Plaza. The sun finally came out on September 28 for the Montgomery Hills Street Festival where GSSCC President Stephanie Helsing and Marketing Manager Julie Pawlikowski celebrated the businesses that create the vibrant community on Georgia Avenue between Forest Glen Road and 16th Street. On this National Day of Service, the Chamber is proud to partner with Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation for the launch of the Maryland Corps/Service Year 2nd Cohort. The Chamber will welcome two members to join the team starting this week and look forward to introducing them to our members. Chamber VP of Member Relations Daniel Oliver was at the kick off ceremony and snapped this photo of Maryland Governor Wes Moore providing remarks on the program.
