It's Pie Time! There are so many things to love about a Thanksgiving meal, but that pie to end the meal is simply the best. The Girl Scouts of Troop 1026 take that great ending to a Thanksgiving meal thinking and each year bake pies to donate to families supported by the DeSoto, KS Food Pantry. This year, these Girl Scouts made 50 apple pies. Yum! They had the opportunity to volunteer at the pantry on Wednesday where they watched their 50 homemade pies go home within minutes. We love the give back initiative of these Girl Scouts and all our Girl Scouts who supported food drives and community Thanksgiving dinners to ensure their neighbors had a wonderful holiday! #girlscouts #happythanksgiving #giveback

Rolling in the Dough exemplifies the Thanksgiving season! Rolling in the Dough is a annual tradition for Girl Scouts in the Blue Springs, Grain Valley & Oak Grove, MO areas where they come together to make a whole lot of homemade rolls for multiple community Thanksgiving dinners. This year, Rolling in the Dough celebrates 25 years! In those 25 years, Girl Scouts have mixed, kneaded and rolled just over 87,000 dinner rolls full of love and thankfulness. As their rolls rise, Girl Scouts help pack additional baskets for Hope House and holiday cards for many great organizations like City Union Mission. We are so proud of these take action Girl Scouts, and we can't wait for the joy tasted in each bite of the 3,600 rolls distributed this year! #girlscouts #giveback #thanksgiving

One Girl Scout makes a difference. Girl Scouts TOGETHER with help from STRONG Navy women change the world! Since September, more than 2,000 Girl Scouts have been collecting items for many amazing organizations across our 47 county council footprint for our Girl Scouts Give Back initiative. On average, each of our 15,000+ Girl Scouts give 30 hours or more in service to their communities. During this time of year, Girl Scouts collectively work together to fill barrels, cars, vans, and trucks of food, personal care, backpack snacks, animal supplies, and winter attire. This year, Girl Scouts went above and beyond in taking action to collect thousands of items to benefit so many incredible organizations like Harvesters—The Community Food Network, Children's Mercy Kansas City, HappyBottoms, Kansas City's Diaper Bank, Giving Hope & Help, Ability KC, Wayside Waifs, Metro Lutheran Ministry, YWCA Northeast Kansas, Family Promise of Lawrence, and so many more! Saturday, November 16 was drop off day, and we were so honored to have some great friends from the US Navy help us load, unload, and stack all the donations. These inspiring women were in KC celebrating #NavyWeek, and we loved they could serve alongside our Girl Scouts sharing their stories of service. #girlscouts #givingback

We're still celebrating the AMAZING RACE with one more very important thank you! Thank you to the City of Kansas City, MO Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund (NTDF) who supported the Amazing Race experience for more than 1,100 Girl Scouts. Many of these Girl Scouts came from outside Kansas City experiencing everything this great city offers, including the KC Streetcar for the very first time! Our Girl Scouts explored Kansas City, from the River Market to Crown Center, the day was filled with discovery, teamwork, and fun! This unforgettable experience aligns perfectly with NTDF’s goal to promote Kansas City’s distinct and diverse neighborhoods through cultural, social, historic, educational, and recreational activities—showcasing our city as a premier destination. #girlscouts #championforgirls #tourism

More than 1,100 Girl Scouts embarked on a race throughout downtown Kansas City! They used the KC Streetcar to take on hundreds of challenges from Science City At Union Station to the River Market. For many of these Girl Scouts, it was their first time to ride a streetcar and see all the cool things are city offers. Girl Scouts had to work together to complete puzzles, practice properly folding a flag with The Dole Institute of Politics, try belly dancing, work to get as many faces in the heart and chalk draw a trefoil in front of T-Mobile Center, create empowerment leaves with HCA Midwest Health take photos in front of the best murals in the world and so much more. These Girl Scouts competed to complete as many challenges as possible, learned new things and had a whole lot of fun together. You couldn't miss a Girl Scout in downtown KC on Saturday! GSKSMO CEO Rochelle P. captured the best photo with a selfie of 1,000+ Girl Scouts! Thanks to our Board of Directors' members who joined us for the fun Kaylee Peile and the Linda Hall Library team had a fantastic challenge asking Girl Scouts to use their STEM critical thinking skills. Board Chair Emily Blue, CFA, and members Maneesh Jhunjhunwala and Katie Werner watched our teams in action. The power of MENTORING!
