Most companies sleep on status quo competition. They obsess over direct and indirect competitors: ?? Tracking features & brand mentions ?? Monitoring G2 & review sites ?? Building battlecards for sales teams But the real threat? The status quo. Think about it: ● Buyers don’t always choose another vendor. They stick with what they know. ● Spreadsheets, scripts, and manual work are often the default competitor. ● AI is making DIY solutions even easier—at a fraction of the cost. Companies that don’t recognize this are losing deals without even knowing why. The key is understanding what keeps your buyers from making a change—and showing them the cost of doing nothing. Managing Director at Minuttia | Founder at GrowthWaves

A few weeks ago, I had a discussion with one of Minuttia’s clients.?At some point, they asked for help with ???????????????????? ????????????????????????. I thought about it and realized we didn’t have a good answer. So, I decided to build a light and easy-to-use tool. The way it works is simple ?? 1?? You insert your and your competitors' names and website domains 2?? You feed the tool with SEMrush total and non-branded search traffic data 3?? You define the type of each website added to the tool (e.g., Indirect) 4?? You choose the ones you want the tool to analyze (e.g., All) And you get benchmarks and a nice visualization of YoY non-branded traffic growth for all your chosen websites. You can then use these benchmarks to make forecasts and make your case internally. In this video walkthrough, I’m explaining how the tool works. (The video is a bit long for LinkedIn, so don’t watch it if you’re strapped for time.) We’ll give all our GrowthWaves Pro members access to the tool with an email we'll send tomorrow. If you want it, head to growthwaves [.] com and subscribe to GrowthWaves Pro. (Link in the comments.) Enjoy ??

We LOVE when companies rethink common marketing strategies. Basecamp by 37signals just flipped comparative marketing on its head with something called Paths. Instead of basic “Product A vs. Product B” pages, Paths visually map how real users transitioned from other tools to Basecamp. And it works. Here’s why: - It tells real customer stories instead of making biased claims. - It acknowledges that the real competition is often the status quo. - It builds trust by showing the buyer’s journey—not just pitching Basecamp. Want the full breakdown? Subscribe now at GrowthWaves.com to read the full case study.

Instead of traditional support channels, Clay: ● Built a Slack community that became the go-to resource for users. ● Supported experts & agencies who now make $2M+ annually implementing Clay. ● Launched bootcamps & cohort programs to deepen engagement. If you’re building in SaaS, ask yourself: Are you nurturing a product, or a movement? Read the case study in our Archive: https://lnkd.in/dsB_cifN

On the surface, Basecamp by 37signals just launched a free plan. But look closer, and you’ll see a bold PLG move. They didn’t just drop a free tier. They made a statement: ?? A PLG play that’s working beautifully. Sign up to get the full story in this week’s GrowthWaves Note. ??

This week, we dived into a growth framework used by GitHub that’s as effective as it is scalable. Here’s the idea: 1?? Developers create public repositories. 2?? Those repositories get indexed by Google and GitHub’s internal search engine. 3?? Other developers discover them, sign up for GitHub, and the cycle repeats. It’s a user-generated content (UGC) growth loop, bringing value to both GitHub and its users. We’ve even analyzed how other companies leverage this strategy for visibility and growth. ?? Sure, SEO and email campaigns are powerful, but the real magic happens when brands think outside the box. ?? Take Wiz, the cloud security platform. During the Olympics, they launched a simple mini-game that kept users engaged far longer than your average website visit. The concept? Guide their mascot to collect real cloud services while avoiding fake ones. The brilliance of this approach? - Increased engagement: Users spend more time interacting with the brand. - Viral potential: It’s fun, shareable, and easy to spread. - Stronger brand affinity: Creative tactics like this make brands memorable. This week in GrowthWaves, we dive into why this strategy works and how you can adapt it for your brand.

A few weeks ago, Yotpo’s co-founder and CEO, Tomer Tagrin., dropped a LinkedIn post that caught everyone’s attention.
