When a reliable employee slacks off, starts missing deadlines, makes mistakes or takes more sick days, how do you respond? Do you show compassion, or do you jump right to letting them go? Some leaders argue that personal problems should be left at the door, but this is difficult, and it affects their work. So, compassion is needed when handling this situation. If you're experiencing compassion fatigue it could be a sign of burnout. Learn about how you can tackle it: https://heyor.ca/W6w7G6 #Burnout #Wellbeing #Leaders #CorporateCulture

Asda, Amazon, and other companies have made headlines with their decision to call employees back to the office. According to Startups' survey, only 19% of SMEs now operate five days a week in the office. Fully remote work dropped from 32% to 16%. Hybrid work is the middle ground. Leaders want in-person collaboration, and employees want flexibility. Here's more information from the survey: https://heyor.ca/usTOta #HybridWork #WorkFromHome #RemoteWork #GrowthPod

Coaching works. It boosts engagement, reduces stress, and improves performance. Yet, it's not the norm in many workplaces. Gallup's research shows that employees are stressed and feel disengaged. ?? Day Two of National Apprenticeship Week 2025! ?? ?#NAW2025 #SkillsForLife Amey We're shining the spotlight on an apprentice from Amey Consulting's Leadership Apprenticeship Programmes each day, and today it's Barry Craig's - Principle Landscape Architect turn! ? Q1. What skills have you developed during your apprenticeship that you believe will be valuable for your future career? Since starting the Amey Consulting Leadership Development Apprenticeship Programme, I have significantly expanded my knowledge and understanding of various management, leadership, and communication styles. The opportunity to have quarterly sessions with an experienced management consultant has been immensely beneficial to my learning journey. The insights, advice, articles, theories, and experiences shared during these calls with Emma from Growth Pod have been enlightening and compelling. Most importantly, each session leaves me feeling motivated and energized to delve deeper into understanding what drives me and my team. Self-understanding is critical to enable personal growth. This understanding helps harness our strengths and align individuals to their most suitable roles, ensuring that the team not only performs but excels and finds happiness in their work. ? Q2. Can you share a memorable experience or project you've worked on during your apprenticeship? The most memorable part of the Leadership Development Programme has been the “Master Classes.” These sessions are hosted by successful individuals from Amey Consulting’s leadership or Learning and Development team. They offer valuable insights into the daily life of an Amey leader through examples and stories. We learn about leadership and management styles as well as decision-making processes. These open and transparent sessions also allow us to ask challenging questions and receive honest answers, highlighting what it takes to be a successful manager and leader in our organisation. ? Q3. How has the apprenticeship program helped you grow both personally and professionally? As previously stated, gaining insights from others, whether through master classes or peer discussions with colleagues, plays a pivotal role in understanding diverse perspectives and approaches to various situations. This exchange of ideas significantly enhances my personal managerial skills, and broadening my professional network within Amey is another additional benefit. Acquiring an in-depth knowledge of management theories and analysing past decisions along with the factors influencing different managerial styles is an area I find profoundly intriguing. I look forward to delving deeper into these subjects during my learning journey. ? Thanks Barry! Jody Nasilasila, Emma Coller, Growth Pod, Train2Train
