Happy Women's History Month! I wanted to take this opportunity to say to the women I have been privileged to learn from and be in the presence of in both my professional and personal lives thank you! To the women who uplift; who care; who nurture; who kiss booboos; who mother/parent humans, fur, and animal babies; who friend; who are compassionate and full of grace when life has shown you much less; who push against the current toward more equity for all; who have survived traumas and overcome difficulties to still shine your beauty on all those around you; who shatter glass ceilings while creating new doors and escalators for those behind you; who you are makes positive and radical changes every day; I see you; I am blessed to know you; and I am inspired by you every day. I celebrate you today, this month, and every day! Our collective world is better because you are in it. And to our male and non-binary friends; colleagues; partners and allies who continually uplift us; believe us; and respect us. We love you and are fortunate to share these journeys together! Now go out and make some good and necessary trouble. #womenhistorymonth

So I am late to the party. The holidays were a lot; family, health, and wrapping up work deadlines. I was struggling. There were definitely low points and highlights, but honestly I was on the struggle bus; chasing the struggle bus and at times feeling run over by the struggle bus. As I get back my bearings, I scrolled through lovely end of the year retrospectives about lessons learned and am just getting to mine. I think the most important thing I learned in 2023 as an #entrepreneur, #mom, and #womanownedbusiness was the importance of #gratitude and #learning to grow that into more opportunities professionally. So here is my version over the next few days of 5 practical gratitude journal entries to grow your professional work. #5 Gratitude for being able to witness and celebrate other people's wins. I think we put too much focus on our own stuff sometimes. I have found that by being able to genuinely celebrate the important work and wins of others, it has made me more open, compassionate, inspired, and thoughtful how I grow my business. In a nutshell: 1) It's not always about you. In business or in life not everything is or can be about you. The more generous and genuine you are the more abundance you create. It's not a piece of pie to fight for, we should always look for a bigger pie or to share what we have. Deficit thinking or scarcity tends to lead to fear and misalignment. And... 2) Believing that great things are possible for you to do too. There will always be people further ahead, but if you take the ego/competition out of it you start to see the possibility. Difficult things become opportunities. Bet on yourself and know that most things were not done in a vacuum for every success story there was most likely a huge network that propelled this person, idea, and venture forward. On that note here are some cool disruptors you should know: Yusuf Omar courageously telling stories of truth that may be uncomfortable but need to be Seen.tv; Misa Chien building a community to give voice to the Asian Women Professionals through The Authentic Asian; David Scott changing global cancer research and funding through Cancer Grand Challenges; Su (Sutin) Chen CodeX HL7 FHIR Accelerator changing how patient data can be used in care; Kent E. Seton, Esq & Kirk S. Edward Charles Foundation helping build and support worthy causes and expand philanthropic opportunities for all; Kim Thomas-Barrios for making generational change happen for our underrepresented kids through programs through University of Southern California NAI. Katy Tucker & Lisette Howard Sunnie two kick butt #mompreneurs disrupting how we can provide healthy and fun snacks for our kids that don't have all of the junk and Genevieve Riutort from Westside Food Bank continually providing food and resources for our community. Brennon Edwards making films and documentaries that make you think and amplify meaningful causes. In Gratitude. Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow.
