As part of our GRO Cares program, we went down to the Clark County Food Bank this spring to volunteer. We spent the afternoon sorting and packing food for the less fortunate. "This individual I had the pleasure of nominating. Every year we have peer reviews and evaluations and this past year this individual set a goal of trying to become a foreman. Now when we set these goals they are not meant to be easily obtainable, it's going to take time, effort, and constant check-ins. And even if we set goals for the year that we don't quite get to, you can't look back and think you didn't achieve anything because you've made all the progress to getting to that goal the next year. I know it's "Employee of the Month" but these past three months this individual has been really stepping up and being a squeaky wheel. As managers, we're not on site all the time, we don't see what happens on the jobsite daily. So this gentleman has been going out of his way to videotape and record himself building retaining walls and installing plants and sending them to me so I can verify that he is doing the process correctly and to the GRO standard. And nothing says being bold like video recording yourself and putting it out there for somebody to view, critique, make changes to, and give feedback on but that's how we grow and get to the next level.
