We are excited to announce Grounds For Sculpture has received a grant from The Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Foundation, to help support Prescription to Arts, Nature, and Wellbeing at GFS - A Social Prescribing Program Pilot. GFS will pilot this program with physicians at Penn Medicine Princeton Health to prescribe 90-day museum prescription passes, featuring activity prompts like mindfulness exercises designed to enhance visitors’ well-being. Programs like these provide physiological benefits derived from art and nature, as well as mental health benefits. Grounds For Sculpture is thrilled to announce a transformative $3 million dollar gift from the Betty Wold Johnson Foundation, a contribution that marks one of the largest single donations from an individual in the organization’s history. This generous endowment gift will play a crucial role in ensuring the lasting legacy of GFS and its commitment to promoting the interplay of art, nature, and wellness for the community. This contribution will enable us to expand our programming and improve facilities, while also supporting the ongoing maintenance and preservation of the sculpture park. Exciting news! Grounds For Sculpture has received a $25,726 FY25 Institutional and Financial Stabilization Grant from the New Jersey Cultural Trust. This new funding helps support installing a professional database with informational signage for GFS’ living horticulture collection, including tagging, cataloging, and tracking vital specimen history, health, and location in the sculpture park. In 2024, GFS was accredited as a Level II Arboretum by The ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum for achieving particular standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens. This database will be an important next step in the management of our living collection. Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) has been awarded a grant from The M&T Bank Charitable Foundation, which will be used to support our participation in the Families First Discovery Pass (FFDP) program. As a member of FFDP, GFS is able to offer our rich arts and horticulture experiences to low-income families and individuals across NJ by providing admission at no cost to the program participants. Last year we welcomed over 8,000 individuals as a result of this program, and we are excited to grow support to continue expanding equitable access to the sculpture park.
