?? Inside Look: Amazon’s New "Amazon Grocery" Concept in Chicago ?? Take a video tour of Amazon's newest experiment: "Amazon Grocery" – located in downtown Chicago at 3 W Chicago Ave, right beneath an existing Whole Foods Market. This spot used to house a Whole Foods-owned espresso bar, and now it’s home to a small-format grocery experience. This concept is intriguing: ?? A compact store with a few thousand SKUs, featuring primarily national brands—many of which you won’t find in Whole Foods due to their strict ingredient standards. The big question: ?? Is Amazon Grocery a strategic test? Was this location selected simply because of available real estate? Or is Amazon positioning it as a complement to Whole Foods—offering products that Whole Foods won’t carry, without disrupting their premium brand? Amazon is never shy about experimenting, but I have to admit—I'm still scratching my head when it comes to their overall grocery strategy. With concepts like Amazon Fresh, Amazon Go, and Whole Foods already in play, it’s hard to see how this new brand fits into the long-term vision. And with Tony Hoggett, SVP of Worldwide Grocery, stepping down to join Marc Lore (a familiar Amazon rival), the timing adds another layer of uncertainty.
