Celebrating Our Exceptional Caregivers Griffin Health celebrated the new year and recognized the January 2025 “I Take It Personally” (ITIP) winners with a sparkling party in the Griffin Hospital Dining Room yesterday. Caregivers celebrating their ITIP awards with, from left, Griffin Health President and CEO Patrick Charmel and ITIP Committee Co-chair Richard Le Pera, were, David Ingmanson, Purchasing; Lindsay Vitale, Center for Cancer Care; Sandy Tyghter-Thomas, Nursing (December 2024 winner); Angela Schwartz, Laboratory; and Vania Violante, Nursing. The ITIP program rewards Griffin caregivers who demonstrate a commitment to Griffin’s Planetree Philosophy, serve as role models for other caregivers, and practice our patient safety and patient-centered care tools in striving to provide an exceptional experience to patients, families, and/or fellow caregivers.

Illuminating the Good! Each year with the amazing leadership of Angela Clemmons, Griffin holds The Valley Soul Concert to benefit TEAM inc. Griffin has had a long tradition of holding a holiday concert to thank our community for the tremendous encouragement we receive each year, while also raising funds for the valuable work done by communiy action agency Team Inc. The concert theme was “Illuminate the Good” which reminds us of the importance of appreciating and sharing the kindness, compassion, and positivity around us. And what an incredible evening of illuminating experiences it was! Caring for Our Caregivers! Griffin Hospital hosted its annual Griffin Family Holiday Meals to thank our exceptional caregivers for their dedication to our patients and our community. Griffin Health is proud to celebrate Tracy Huneke - Griffin's 2024 Connecticut Hospital Association Healthcare Hero Award winner! The Healthcare Heroes Award honors and recognizes the invaluable contributions of exceptional healthcare workers, both to their field and to the community at large. In 2009, Huneke founded the Griffin Hospital School of Allied Health Careers as a response to the need for qualified and compassionate phlebotomists. She embarked on the mission to create a school that would provide highly skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals, equipped to address the evolving needs of the community.
