The Gridworks mission is to convene, educate and empower stakeholders to decarbonize electricity grids
关于我们
Gridworks’ mission is to convene, educate and empower stakeholders working to decarbonize electricity grids. Since 2010, Gridworks has enabled this mission through four strategies: by identifying high-value challenges to decarbonizing electricity grids; convening stakeholders and providing them neutral ground, technical support and facilitation to identify break-through solutions to identified challenges; publishing and helping implement identified solutions; and adapting successful solutions to new markets In 2019, Gridworks hosted 74 meetings (1 out of every 3.5 business days), engaging over 2,000 total participants across. The results of that engagement include 9 white papers, reports and blog series’.

Over the course of the past year, Gridworks was privileged to facilitate a building decarbonization initiative in New Mexico. Thank you to our partners at?Building Decarbonization Coalition &?Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC),?and the folks who participated?in the stakeholder group for all of your efforts and time! Today, along with other stakeholders, we’re releasing the New Mexico Building Decarbonization Roadmap. This Roadmap provides recommendations on how to accelerate the elimination of GHG emissions from the state’s residential and small commercial buildings by 2050. The result of a year-long stakeholder process conducted by more than 20 government, utility, business, and nonprofit stakeholders, the Roadmap aims to create affordable, comfortable, healthy, efficient, and resilient homes for all New Mexicans, prioritizing low-income, disadvantaged, and Tribal communities. To read the Roadmap and learn more about how New Mexicans can work together to spur building sector greenhouse gas reductions across the state, download the Roadmap here: https://lnkd.in/enzAWfxG #BuildingDecarb #NewMexico #HeatPumps Advanced Energy United, Carl Ulibarri, City of Albuquerque, Coalition of Sustainable Communities New Mexico, El Paso Electric Company, Housing New Mexico, Kit Carson Electric Cooperative Inc., New Mexico Climate Investment Center, New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration, Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department of New Mexico, New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperatives, Prosperity Works, Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM), Rheem Manufacturing, Sierra Club, Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP), Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc., Western Resource Advocates, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Gridworks

Gridworks is honored to support The Pew Charitable Trusts in an initiative to expedite the pace and scale of distributed energy resources across the U.S A U.S. Department of Energy study found that these local solutions have the potential to address 10-20% of peak demand and save utility customers approximately $10 billion per year. This initiative will include a roadmap outlining how these resources can be accelerated nationally. Pew Initiative: https://lnkd.in/gWPShUT7

Over the past two years, Gridworks has been honored to support the Equity & Hydrogen Initiative and the Oregon Clean Grid Collaborative — two groundbreaking efforts focused on building capacity and developing shared principles to guide advocacy efforts. At the heart of our work is a key tenant: when all impacted stakeholders have the knowledge and resources to participate in shaping our energy system, we are more likely to create an energy system that works for all. Check out our Case Study to learn more about our approach and the tangible outcomes of these initiatives.

Last week, Gridworks supported the Colorado Electric Transmission Authority (CETA) in presenting transmission plan results to Colorado legislators. The work is the result of a year-long inquiry by Energy Strategies, with Gridworks providing stakeholder facilitation, to evaluate future electricity demand, generation needs, and transmission bottlenecks in Colorado. The final report identified a significant long-term need for transmission in Colorado, including $4.5 billion of grid investment by 2045 that is currently not planned by local utilities or developers, and under a high demand scenario, assuming a sharp increase in electricity demand in the state due to drivers like electrification and data center growth, an additional $4.2 billion in grid investment is needed by 2045. CETA’s study shows the transmission need in Colorado is urgent. Gridworks is grateful to assist CETA in identifying the most efficient, valuable, cost-effective transmission investments to meet this urgent need. Final Report: https://lnkd.in/gJP6Swf9

Last week, the Colorado Electric Transmission Authority (CETA) approved Principles of Community Engagement, setting CETA’s expectations for project partner engagement with potential host communities and affected stakeholders. While community engagement is a hot topic in many forums these days, CETA is one of the first to adopt community engagement principles into official policy. The principles are the result of a months-long examination by the CETA Board into community engagement best practices facilitated by Gridworks. On September 11, the?Oregon?Clean Grid Collaborative’s first annual Clean Grid Summit brought together more than 120 community leaders, industry experts, tribal representatives, advocates, utilities, and state and federal government officials to address?Oregon’s path towards achieving a clean, reliable, and affordable energy future. Discussions at the summit highlighted pressing issues such as regional markets, the state and region’s needs to develop new transmission infrastructure, and how to achieve an equitable energy future with the many regional changes underway. Stay tuned for future updates on the?Oregon?Clean Grid Collaborative, and next year’s Summit!

This week, GridLab and Gridworks released Connected West, a detailed, long-range transmission plan to address the growing energy needs of the West over the next 20 years. Bottom line: The West can achieve its goal of a reliable grid to support a strong economy at a manageable cost if we work together to plan and build the transmission we need. If we do not, we will have a more expensive grid. Connected West website: https://connectedwest.org/ Full report: https://lnkd.in/dM5Cdcke Gridworks will also be hosting a webinar on Oct. 8, 9-10:30am PT to discuss the study purpose, key findings, methodology and assumptions. Panelists include: Sen. Greg Brophy (The Western Way), Chair Megan Decker (Oregon Public Utilities Commission), Sarah Edmonds (Executive Director, Western Power Pool), and Rich Glick (Senior Fellow, Gridworks).
