There’s an easier way for hackers to compromise industrial control systems (ICS). ?? A new Censys report found 145,000 exposed ICSs and thousands of insecure human-machine interfaces (HMIs), giving attackers an accessible path to disrupt critical operations. Real-world examples show just how serious this risk is: Iranian and Russian-backed hackers have used HMIs to manipulate water systems in Pennsylvania and Texas. GreyNoise research confirms the urgency: attackers are rapidly scanning for HMIs and prioritizing Remote Access Services (RAS) over complex ICS protocols.
