4 of the milestones of a GSG are that you have A Cohesive Wedge, a Driving Theme, a Unifying graphic and an Event Date. They are all microstructures that are important. The Cohesive Wedge consists of at least three people who are the key producers of the event. Any one of the Wedge can lead the event. If you don't have at least three people in the Wedge, the event does not fly. The unifying Graphic is the motivative image that sets the tone and Spirit of the Event. The driving Theme is the set of steel threads that runs through all 24 sessions and binds them together for us. The date is the date, and there will be invitations. Another new experiment from the Grey Swan Guild News Desk. It's a new style Wrap this week and the theme is about news and what's crankin people up about artificial intelligence. it's nine news stories and a bit of connecting the dots, taking a look around the world of what's happening in those buckets of The Good The Bad and The Ugly of AI. there will be questions. 1. why are there so many bots? 2. can AI really write? 3. what is deep research? 4. can AI bring back the Dead? 5. how could there be secret AI in the White House? these questions and more... https://lnkd.in/gpDuPWue Sean Moffitt Chuck Metz, Jr. Denise Tsang Antonia Nicols Gina Clifford Andrea Kates Gordon Withrow Anna Hummel-Gumaelius Anna Foat Dan Zinkin

5??The Five-Year Mark: Reflecting on COVID-19's Global Impact Five Years Since WHO Declared COVID-19 a Global Pandemic: Looking Back, Looking Forward ???? This week marks five years since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. On March 11, 2020, our world changed forever as we embarked on a journey that would test our resilience, our systems, and our humanity. In these five years, we've experienced the good (scientific breakthroughs), the bad (over 20 million lives lost), the ugly (political division and misinformation), the uncertain (long-term health impacts), and the great (community resilience and adaptation). We we scared, we were angry and we were lockup up. Seriously. We formed the Guild while trying to figure out if COVID 19, labeled by some in scientifically as the "Wuhan Flu" to make some sense fo things and how to be resilient in times of what we classed as a Grey Swan. As we reflect on this milestone, we are struck by both how far we've come and how much remains unresolved. We've witnessed record-breaking vaccine development and unprecedented global scientific collaboration. Yet we've also seen healthcare systems pushed to breaking points, economies devastated, and societies deeply divided. History teaches us that pandemics are not one-time events. The 1918-1921 influenza pandemic came in multiple waves over several years, killing between 17-50 million people worldwide. No one bows the execat number because deaths are a statistic. COVID-19 has followed similar patterns, reminding us that our battle with infectious diseases is as old as humanity itself. Older if you believe like most scientists that viruses are zootic. (There anoter word we leaded during the pandemic. It's a situationship) Five years on, are we better prepared for the next pandemic? Have we truly learned the lessons needed to protect ourselves and future generations? Or are we already forgetting, returning to complacency? This 5 Year anniversary Wrap is written a deeper analysis exploring these questions through historical context and critical reflection. In it, we examine what we've done well, where we've failed, what remains uncertain, and what questions we should be asking now to prepare for future health crises. https://lnkd.in/gjPDcq7y NASA's 286-Day Mission Concludes: Leadership & Contingency Planning in Action ?? Greetings from Space ???? Grey Swan Guild members, BIG NEWS: After an unprecedented 9-month stay aboard the ISS, NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore successfully splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday afternoon. massive national and international teamwork, and a great big life boat from SpaceX, they were expecting 8 tour... massive contingency planning and training in action ???? Mission Analytics: - Original plan: 8-day test mission - Actual duration: 286 days - Cause: Technical failures with Boeing Starliner - Solution: SpaceX Dragon capsule rescue - Splashdown location: Gulf of Mexico (Tallahassee coast) - Time: 5:57pm EDT, March 18, 2025 ??Risk Examination: This mission transformation demonstrates critical lessons in risk management and operational pivoting. When primary systems failed (Boeing's Starliner malfunctions), NASA executed a comprehensive contingency plan, integrating the astronauts into existing operations while developing an alternative extraction strategy. Engineering plans ahead oh my goodness over 200 days worth. ????During their extended mission, Williams and Wilmore maintained productivity by: - Conducting scientific experiments - Performing maintenance operations - Contributing to scheduled spacewalks - Adapting to changing mission parameters ??Leadership Insights: Wilmore himself rejected defeatist narratives: "It's work. It's enjoyable. It's been challenging at times, no doubt. 'Stranded'? No. 'Stuck'? No. 'Abandoned'? No." This demonstrates the resilience mindset critical for high-stakes leadership positions. When plans go sideways, successful leaders adapt rather than despair. Strategic Decision-Making: NASA's decision matrix included: - Safety prioritization over schedule adherence - Dynamic scheduling (mission return advanced 24hrs due to weather forecasting) - Resource reallocation (SpaceX Dragon deployment) - Crisis communication management This mission exemplifies how organizations can navigate unexpected challenges through systematic contingency planning and decisive execution – principles applicable across industries facing disruption. What contingency plans does YOUR organization have in place? How might you adapt this framework to your business operations? #SpaceTech #ContingencyPlanning #LeadershipLessons #RiskManagement #BusinessContinuity #OperationalResilience #NASAInnovation #SpaceXRescue #BusinessAnalytics #GreySwanGuild #AdaptiveLeadership photo: abc news Looking forward to discussing more at our next Guild gathering! ????
