On National Medal of Honor Day, Grey Bull Rescue honors the extraordinary courage and valor of those who have received our nation’s highest honor — the Medal of Honor. These individuals stood firm in the face of the enemy, showing unmatched bravery and commitment. Created by President Lincoln in 1861, fewer than 4,000 service members have recived the Medal of Honor out of over 40 million who have served. Today, only 61 living Recipients remain — each a symbol of the values that define our nation: courage, sacrifice, and service. The Medal is worn by few, for the many — honoring not just heroic acts, but the fallen, their comrades, and the families who uphold their legacy. As the number of living Recipients declines, our duty to preserve their stories is more vital than ever. ? ? At Grey Bull Rescue, we are proud to have one of these heroes — Master Sergeant Leroy A. Petry — as a dedicated teammate and on our Board of Advisors. Since our earliest missions in Afghanistan in August 2021, Leroy,?has provided unwavering friendship, guidance, leadership, and support. A career Ranger with the elite 2/75th Ranger Regiment, MSG Petry deployed eight times in support of Operation: ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. ?On May 26, 2008, despite being gravely wounded, he risked his life to save his friends and fellow Rangers — an act that earned him the Medal of Honor and the enduring respect of the nation. Beyond the battlefield, Leroy?remains a servant-leader, tireless advocate, and inspiration to all of us at Grey Bull Rescue. His presence strengthens our mission and drives our team to continue saving lives at the “SPEED OF NEED” - to show up, to stand up and to never leave anyone behind. ? ? Leroy and all the Medal of Honor recipients didn’t just do one act of valor. ?Rather, they continue to serve after receiving the Medal of Honor spreading our?values using their heroism as a platform to show Americas greatness to all generations, especially the next generation of Warriors and Americans. ? The team at Grey Bull Rescue is heartbroken by the passing of Jessica Aber, former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.? We wish to extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues at DOJ.???? Jessica was a brilliant legal mind.? She led the charge and made U.S. history when she brought landmark indictments against four Russian Soldiers who committed war crimes against an American Citizen.?This was the first time anyone had ever been indicted for crimes in U.S. history by DOJ.? The victim in the case was Kirillo-Edvard Alexandrov.?Bryan Stern and the team from Grey Bull Rescue conducted a daring and complex rescue mission and freed Kirillo from Russian captivity.?? The case was a historic first of many things, Kirillo is the first American victim of war crimes alive since WWII, he was the first person ever to be “stolen” from the Russians, and Jessica was the first ever to bring indictments for war crimes against any foreign power in history. Truly remarkable.?? The Russians kidnapped Kirillo in Russian-occupied Kherson, where he was beaten, tortured, and subjected to mock executions.? Working under the most dangerous conditions imaginable, Bryan and the team located Kirillo, designed the operation, and rescued him to safety.? In doing so, they collected a tremendous amount of intelligence and information about the perpetrators.?Kirillo's rescue mission, and the intelligence collected, became the foundation of the DOJ’s case, which Jessica pursued relentlessly. Grey Bull Rescue is excited to announce that George Glezmann is finally heading home after two and a half years held in captivity by the Taliban in Afghanistan.?He is finally free and being reunited with his family. George, an airline mechanic for Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia, was abducted while on vacation. Throughout his captivity, his wife, Aleksandra, had very limited and sporadic phone contact with him. His health has deteriorated significantly and required urgent medical attention. At Grey Bull Rescue, our mission is to bring Americans home from hostile territories—whether they are hostages, kidnapping victims, or stranded in conflict zones. These operations are complex and dangerous, but they demand action. Huge thanks to all those that made his release possible on all sides including U.S. Department of State, SPEHA, Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and so many others. George’s return is a testament to the strength of American diplomacy, the unwavering resolve of his family, and the critical support of our allies.
