Gregory has recently been updating our safety helmets to the Studson SHK-1 Full Brim model. In doing so, we thought we should look back and acknowledge the first "hard hat" model, and how far construction safety equipment has come. The first hard hat was developed in 1918 by Edward Bullard for the miners that often would suffer debilitating injury from falling debris. The original hard hat was called "The Hardboiled Hat" due to the steaming process involved in the manufacturing process. Since 1900, we have seen impressive strides in safety regulations on jobsites. With safety as one of our core values, Gregory Construction is committed to a culture of safety.
