Business in the front, party in the back. Coming back from a photoshoot of a modest home addition and renovation in Medford, I reflected on how living in a space is very different from selling it. Of course we envision spaces for living, playing, working and all other human or human-adjacent things we do. However, the way we draw and capture them post-construction is somewhat idealistic... perhaps even unrealistic. We all want to believe that the magazines are real, our life is like that - primp, proper, organized, perfectly styled. However, at 26 weeks pregnant with my second child, overcoming yet another daycare bug, it became apparent to me while moving someone else's belongings "out of the way", that life is far from perfect. Business is not perfect either, but it doesn't mean we cannot aspire to perfection. I aspire to perfection. I want an amazing project result, a happy client, a happy contractor, happy engineers, happy employees and partners. It is both liberating and humbling to have your own business where the responsibility for that lies on your shoulders. I would not have it any other way. Please give it up for the talented and creative perfectionist interior architect that has already influenced me greatly Jen Gregoire for her interior design work on this project (final photos will go on my website soon).
