Following our last update, we’re happy to share another milestone at the Martin and Horning Solar sites. Solar module installation is now complete at both locations, a significant achievement as construction continues to advance ahead of schedule. ? Next steps include preparing and constructing the transformer pads and beginning the installation of electrical wiring across the sites. This critical phase will carry us through the remaining weeks of 2024, ensuring that we begin the new year having made steady progress on both project sites. ? We’ll continue to provide updates as these projects move closer to completion, furthering our commitment to creating a more sustainable world through the advancement of clean energy.

  • In continuation of our commitment to keeping you informed and engaged on this groundbreaking project, we’re excited to share the second installment of our Iyuhána Solar newsletter. • For November's project profile, we are pleased to highlight our Elizabeth Mine Solar Project, a 7,000 kW DC solar facility located in Strafford, Vermont. ? Reaching commercial operation in December 2017, this project embodies GSI’s dedication to transforming former industrial sites into clean energy assets. Built on a former EPA Superfund site, Elizabeth Mine Solar features a fixed tilt system with ballasted foundations, designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing renewable energy production. ? Through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Green Mountain Power, Elizabeth Mine Solar supplies clean energy to over 1,200 Vermont homes, offsetting approximately 7,136 tons of carbon dioxide annually. ? This summer, the project was also featured in an article by The Nature Conservancy, which highlighted its positive impact on the Strafford community and its role as a successful example of collaborative environmental revitalization. To read the full article on The Nature Conservancy’s website: https://bit.ly/45V863H ? As a cornerstone of GSI’s solar portfolio, the Elizabeth Mine project plays a vital role in driving our vision of a sustainable energy future.

  • Building on our last update, we’re excited to share further progress at our Martin and Horning solar project sites in New York State as construction continues to advance. ? At the Martin site, construction is moving smoothly. Trenching and conduit work are complete, and we’re awaiting the installation of transformer foundations. All foundation piles are installed and assembly of the tracking system — which will help align solar panels for maximum sun exposure — is complete. Most exciting, we recently installed the last solar module. We will now focus on wiring all the DC and AC cabling around the site. ? The Horning site is also advancing well. Trenching and conduit installation are complete up to the transformers, and all foundation piles have been installed. As at Martin, we’re making progress and the tracking system assembly is nearly complete. Currently, a third of the solar modules are in place with completion expected in about a week. ? We are especially pleased to be working with GSI’s selected EPC contractor, EnSiteUSA, whose expertise and collaboration have been instrumental in keeping these projects on track. We look forward to sharing further updates as we continue moving towards project completion.

With construction ongoing, we are excited to share the significant recent progress at our Martin and Horning solar project sites in New York State. At the Martin site, nearly all foundation piles have been installed, with our engineering team on-site to ensure each pile meets quality standards and to provide real-time solutions as needed. Pre-assembly of the tracking system components, which will allow the solar panels to maximize sun exposure, is complete. With all of the solar panels for the project already on site, installation has now begun. We are awaiting the final delivery of materials to continue with the assembly. Meanwhile, at the Horning site, we have completed trenching and conduit installation for power lines within the solar array, with nearly all foundation piles in place. The tracking system is being assembled, and we are awaiting the final materials to proceed. Most of the solar panels have been delivered, and we have begun the installation this week. As construction progresses over the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing further updates as we advance these projects towards completion in 2025 while continuing to expand the clean energy footprint in this nation-leading renewable energy market.

For October’s project profile, we are featuring our Uxbridge Solar Project, a 1,310 kW DC ground mounted solar facility located in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. This project, also known as Buxton Road Solar, generates and sells renewable energy certificates under Massachusetts’ SREC II program. The system reached commercial operation in December 2016 and operates under a long-term contract with two public affordable housing authorities. Within GSI’s solar portfolio, the Uxbridge Solar Project is a pivotal initiative, essential for advancing our vision of creating a more sustainable environment for future generations.

?? We are proud to highlight that Greenwood Sustainable Infrastructure (GSI), one of our #RenewableEnergy subsidiaries based in North America, participated in Ocean Man First Nation’s Annual pow wow last month at Lost Horse Hills, on Ocean Man First Nation land in Saskatchewan, Canada, celebrating the nation’s sovereignty and self-determination for their inherent rights and preserved cultural identity. This invitation was a testament to the strong relationship GSI has fostered with the Ocean Man First Nation community through their commitment to their partnership, the Iyuhána Solar project. ?? Under an exclusive PPA, the largest with a utility in #Canada since 2015, the Iyuhàna Solar Project will be a 100 MW solar facility, which will operate and supply generated power to the principal utility company, SaskPower, for 25 years. This project is also one of the top 10 largest contracted solar projects in the country. ?? As a founding partner, Ocean Man First Nation has an ownership stake in Iyuhána Solar. Through this #partnership, band members will have access to employment opportunities and receive specialized training to maintain the solar facilities. During their time in Saskatchewan, members of the GSI team toured the future Iyuhána Solar project site with local representatives from the Rural Municipality of Estevan. Wonderful to see the evolution of this novel partnership with #SocialImpact. We look forward to following GSI and Ocean Man First Nation as they continue to collaborate on this project supporting #Indigenous communities while advancing #sustainable energy solutions!
