Last week, we were incredibly honored to host New York Times foreign affairs correspondent Thomas Friedman, who offered a timely and powerful discussion about global affairs in today’s rapidly changing world. Friedman is renowned for his direct reporting and accessible analysis of complex issues shaping the world. According to Foreign Policy magazine, “Friedman doesn't just report on events; he helps shape them.” At the event, Board President Ian Murray announced that the Library has received a $5 million gift from Greenwich residents Lynne and Richard Pasculano to support its Signature Series, marking the Library's largest gift in over 30 years. The Signature Series, now renamed the Lynne and Richard Pasculano Signature Series, features four annual events with world-class speakers addressing global topics. “This endowment ensures that the Greenwich Library’s Signature Series will continue to inspire and engage our community for generations to come,” said Joseph Williams, director of Greenwich Library. “We are deeply grateful to Lynne and Richard Pasculano for their generosity and vision. Their gift underscores the changing role of libraries as cultural and educational cornerstones of society, and it allows us to expand our mission of fostering thoughtful discourse and discovery and continue it for generations to come.” Read the complete announcement here: https://lnkd.in/e7unjfE4

Is this the most overdue book of all time? 56 years overdue, we just received this copy of Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises! Luckily we no longer have overdue fines. Thanks to the former patron that mailed this book to us, including a check to replace it with a newer copy. #greenwichlibrary #greenwichct #hemingway #overduebook

You love to eat. But do you know how to taste? Tasting was the topic of our recent AuthorsLive. Greenwich Library was delighted to welcome award-winning professional taster and author of How to Taste: A Guide to Discovering Flavor and Savoring Life, Mandy Naglich. Every participant received a box of food samplings to participate in a tasting that explored flavor interactions. Mandy led the group through pairing the cheeses with tastes that were sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami. She also taught them the method to tasting, retronasal tasting, important pairing guidelines, the science behind tasting, and so much more! Thank you Mandy for this exciting and informative AuthorsLive visit and thank you as always to Diane's Books, for providing books for sale and signing. #greenwichlibrary #greenwichct #authorsvisit #cicerones

Greenwich Library’s Signature Series was thrilled to welcome best-selling author Amor Towles to Greenwich Library last month. In an engaging conversation with New York Times writer at large Sarah Lyall, Amor delved into his latest book of short stories, "Table for Two," shared insights about his other novels, and talked passionately about the art of writing. Many thanks to the Greenwich Library Board of Trustees for sponsoring the evening, to our incredible staff and volunteers for providing event support, and to our friends at Diane’s Books for book sales. ?? ??Watch the entire program on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/ekWpiMDx Professional photos by Cheryl Moss Photos #GreenwichLibrary #greenwichct #amortowles #BestsellingAuthor #AuthorLife
