March 18th is Global Recycling Day – an opportunity to promote recycling, reusing and repurposing items. Worldwide we dump billions of tons of waste, much of it is recyclable, reusable or can be repurposed. Organizers of Global Recycling Day encourage us to take action to reduce waste and promote a circular economy. At GreenWay we’re all about recycling and we’re always looking for new ways to put trash to good use. https://lnkd.in/eUtgWik

Seeing GreenWay leader Terrell Garrett without a hard hat at the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA) C&D World conference in Dallas was great. But that didn’t stop Terrell from talking about hard issues, including recovery rates and the latest technology, as one of the featured presenters during a session on optimizing plant operations. Way to go Terrell and the rest of the expert panelists!

We value our partnership with West Salem Machinery- the best in the business!
In 2008, Terrell Garrett, Owner of GreenWay Recycling, invested in a 4864 Grinder from West Salem Machinery, and it's been running ever since. “We’re the only company in Portland Metro area that is running a stationary electric grinder, and quite frankly, I do not understand why everybody doesn’t do it." November 15th is America Recycles Day, the only nationally recognized day that’s all about recycling. At GreenWay, we know all about giving waste materials a second life to ensure they don’t pollute our natural areas. The EPA estimates that 76% of all construction and demolition waste in the US gets recycled. America Recycles Day is a time to spread the word about ways recycling helps us reduce waste, conserve precious resources and educate others, especially children. From reusable bottles to shopping at secondhand stores, there are many ways you can help keep waste out of landfills and do your part for the environment. Let’s recycle today America! #AmericaRecyclesDay https://lnkd.in/gmxD7BSB

We always appreciate it when local government leaders want to learn about GreenWay and how the private sector is stepping up to address the region’s waste management and sustainability needs. Kudos to Milwaukie City Councilors Adam Khosroabadi and William Anderson for visiting GreenWay recently to discover how we can improve that community's solid waste and recycling programs. Curious about GreenWay? Come on out for a tour!

National Forest Products Week (October 20-26) is a good time to recognize the variety of wood products produced from our forests and the?essential role forests play in our environment. Did you know wood is our largest commodity at GreenWay? We produce the cleanest hog fuel available to local paper mills which they use for power generation. Our new fines aggregate removal system runs wood waste through several screens and a water bath allowing the hog fuel to be free of trash or other debris making it among the lowest ash on the marketplace. Hog fuel is a renewable energy source for mills because it’s burned in boilers producing steam or electricity, helping reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, and?lowering their carbon footprint. Think about the number of things in your life that come from the forest—way more than paper! ?? https://lnkd.in/gkGPw8kg
