The driving philosophy behind SUPERGirls SHINE Foundation’s work? Human capital drives innovation. The thinking behind the organization’s mission is grounded in two simple facts: the underserved and untapped talent gap is growing for future leaders, and particularly, women and girls—but so are opportunities in the STEM workforce. The solution? Project-based, paid internships that fast-track girls and rising "leadHERs" from underserved communities into careers in science, technology, engineering, and math—and into greater economic mobility. The transportation sector is the largest contributor to U.S. GHG emissions, accounting for 28% of total emissions—which is why we need innovative solutions to decarbonize how we move, from the fuel used in cars and planes to the composition of new forms of transportation. That's what our Transportation Sector Pitch Day was all about. Thank you to the corporate partners and investors who joined us to meet eight Greentown members developing technologies tackling a wide range of the transportation value chain: ?? e-Ski Watercraft: electric personal watercrafts ?? Glimpse: scans to visualize battery quality ?? EVident Battery, Inc.: inspections for EV battery packs ?? RenewCO?: converting CO2 into fuels and chemicals like SAF ?? Flux Marine: 100% electric outboard motors for boats ?? MoveEV: Accurate calculations + fast payments for EV fleets ?? Haffner Energy: waste biomass-to-SAF, hydrogen, and more ?? Ivys Inc.: hydrogen refueling for fuel-cell vehicles Thank you also to Tara Spencer of MoveEV, Clenilson J Goncalves of Embraer-X, and Jamey Tesler of Mass Mobility Hub for joining Aisling Carlson for a panel discussion on industry and investment trends in sustainable transportation, representing a range of industries and perspectives on decarbonizing the sector! #transportation #decarbonization #innovation #electricvehicles #SAF #aviation #hydrogen #mobility #smartcities #EV #EVadoption #battery

We don’t have enough fresh water. The solution? Desalinate water from the ocean. But today’s desalination methods—distillation and membrane filtration—are incredibly energy intensive, requiring either high temperatures or high-pressure pumps. That’s what NONA Technologies is changing. The startup’s electro-membrane technology works at room temperature and requires just a fraction of the pressure. “Instead of using heat or a filter, we use an electrical field to pull impurities out of the water,” says Bruce Crawford, the startup’s CEO and co-founder. The company’s first product is a compact, portable unit that can serve as a climate-adaptation device for disaster relief and sailors. But it’s also developing solutions for cleaning industrial wastewater for reuse, and for reusing water in AI-server cooling towers.
