?? I recently had the chance to share my story with a group of STEM professors, thanks to Molly Wasko Talking to them reminded me of the long, winding road I’ve traveled since college in 2016. It’s been like trying to bake the perfect cake—lots of tries, a few burnt edges, but finally, a recipe for success! ?? I’ve applied to SBIR programs five times, working with different universities and small businesses. It wasn’t until 2022, 2023, and 2024 that I finally got it just right. After years of “taste testing” (customer interviews) and refining my recipe, I finally secured grants totaling over $600,000. Google me I’m awesome 8 years into the game of business because of supporters like Alastair Monk A few things I’ve learned along the way: 1. Get a coach—a recipe guide. Imagine learning to cook without ever having seen a recipe. A coach saves you from trial and error and helps you get to the delicious part faster! 2. Build a team with a big appetite for a shared vision. Just like making a feast, you need people who bring different ingredients and ideas to the table. A great vision, like a great meal, isn’t rushed. It takes time. ?? So, if you’re ready to start cooking up something amazing, keep in mind that the deadline to apply for SBIR is coming up. Dive in, keep stirring, and don’t stop until you create something truly satisfying. #STEM #SBIR #entrepreneurship #innovation #keepcooking Isis Ashford-Swain Thivaher (Thiv) Paramsothy @tim thompson TurboSBIR Kiley Summers Amanda Williams Ray Guzman Ray Fujita Kenny Burzynski Kay Lim Elizabeth Mazhari Alison Smith Kellie C.
