?? Thank you to all community members who attended our meeting with the Secretary of Transportation, Monica Tibbits-Nutt.?? It was very well attended, with about 60 community members in attendance. Thank you to Secretary?Tibbits-Nutt and her team, who provided an overview?of the lead remediation efforts along the Tobin, as promised. ?? Major updates include: * Tobin Bridge work will continue through 2027 * The Secretary’s team hears the community concerns loudly and clearly and will follow up with GreenRoots and residents. ?? Significant concerns of community members include:? * noise (including overnight work that is very loud) * dust * odors of the paint and chemicals, troubles with the mitigation offers (AC units breaking, filters needing changing, etc) * The hotline not working properly The Secretary committed to joining another in-person community meeting in the Spring of 2025.? The MA DOT project team has committed to do more on-site inspections.?

?? Thank you to Eastern Bank for volunteering to plant trees with us in Chelsea! We are well on our way to reach out goal of 50 trees this Fall. (With a goal of another 100 in the Spring!). Together, we are improving our air quality, cooling down our neighborhoods, and beautifying our streets. --- ???Gracias a Eastern Bank por ofrecerse como voluntario para plantar árboles con nosotros en Chelsea! Residents had an opportunity to learn about and help shape our work on improving air ???quality and creating more open, green spaces ?? for recreation and enjoyment. The young and young-at-heart also got to decorate lanterns ??with our Freight Farmer and in-house artist, Oscar!

What does an environmental justice organization do? In the past week we've: ?? planted more trees in Chelsea (our goal is 100 this Fall!) ???? prepared our gardens for winter ?? hosted an information fair on the new low-income eligible fare and shared information on changes to bus routes in Chelsea with seniors at the Margolis Apartments plus.... ?? Our ECO Youth organizers met with a City employee about a potential future skate park! Environmental justice = access to a healthy environment for living, working, learning, and playing.
