COP30: Climate Action or Climate Hypocrisy? Brazil is set to host COP30 in 2025, a global summit meant to drive climate solutions. But here’s the problem: to prepare for this event, Brazil is actively destroying the Amazon rainforest. ?? The Environmental Cost: ?? 15,600 trees destroyed ?? 3.12 million liters of daily water loss due to reduced transpiration ?? 390 bird species impacted ?? 195 reptile species lost ?? 78 mammal species displaced ?? 1.95 million insects wiped out All for what? A highway project leading to the host city, Belém. Meanwhile, the Brazilian government and COP30 organizers remain silent, calling the project ‘sustainable’ because it includes bike lanes and solar-powered lights. That’s not sustainability—that’s greenwashing. ?? How can we take COP30 seriously when its very preparations contradict its mission? This is bigger than one summit. If world leaders turn a blind eye to this, they set a dangerous precedent: that climate action can be performative while ecosystems are sacrificed in the background. ?? The world is watching.
