February was the first time we added > $1M in ARR in a single month. As a founder, I’m so proud of our team. We work extremely hard building bank-grade AI agents that the largest FIs in the world feel comfortable deploying on mission critical use cases. But it also says a lot about the state of AI in Financial Services: - Large FIs are actively looking for high-ROI use cases for agents. Compliance and risk is a great starting point given the manual work that those teams are often straddled with. - A strong Model Risk Management and Model Validation program is a necessity for a potential AI partner. Our program is leading the pack in this new age of GenAI based automation. - Everyone is talking about agents, but most companies approaches to agents are a single call to ChatGPT to summarize a document or write a narrative. That’s a waste of the technology and doesn’t deliver real gains. I’m noticing banking leaders are becoming aware of this and are looking for AI-native partners to help them scale fast. With all that said, we're excited to continue to be the trusted partners to some of the world's largest and most innovative firms. We had a blast hosting financial crime leaders from Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, TD and leading fintechs in NYC last night ahead of the 1LoD Financial Crime Summit. Some of the key themes from the night: - AI appetite at all-time high - Compared to this time last year, we're seeing a lot more of a leadership push to apply for AI for better efficiency, traceability and quality of financial crime ops - Talent challenges - One leader shared they had budget for 40 analysts but could only fill 10 positions last year - Build vs. Buy decisions - Major institutions implementing time-based frameworks (one using a 55-day rule) to determine when external solutions make sense - Engineering resource competition - Compliance teams struggling to secure engineering resources against revenue-generating initiatives. This is a tale as old as time and something that partnering with great external partners can help with - Cross-sector trends insights - It was great swapping stories, best practices and trends across teams from traditional banking to crypto to fintech, creating rich discussions on regulatory challenges Thank you for all the attendees who came! What’s the next AI application to scale? At the The Wall Street Journal CIO Network Summit, Greylock partner Saam Motamedi spoke with Steve Rosenbush about how we're moving up the reasoning ladder. "As these model capabilities continue improving, they can take on more and more complex tasks," Saam notes, giving two examples from the recent months. ?? Resolve AI: "At one large public company that they serve, engineers no longer have to wake up in the middle of the night to handle outages. Their AI agent can entirely handle the outage autonomously, unleashing the company's engineers to focus on what they do best and have a better quality of life." ?? Greenlite AI: "They’re taking workflows where large banks have analysts looking into consumers and understanding whether or not they can open accounts for consumers. Today, Greenlite crossed 100,000 financial crime cases completed by AI in a single month! One month into 2025 and we're already breaking records. These range across four case types : - AML alert resolution - Sanction alert resolution - KYB reviews - Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews We estimate that Greenlite freed up 13,134 hours across our customers this month -- that's 93 full-time compliance analysts that can now tackle more proactive work. And it's not just more efficient to use agents. Our customers report higher quality and consistency of casework. Agents are trained on your ideal handling of cases and have significantly better auditability that humans doing the same work. The rate of adoption for AI agents in compliance is incredible. In January last year, we processed only 1,127 cases. This means that we've grown adoption by 100x in a single year. Will has the perfect background to hit the ground running. He was previously at on the GTM teams at Fivetran and later Databricks where he focused on enterprise financial institutions. He crushed it there and went on to be an early pioneer in bringing Generative AI capabilities to enterprise customers at Fireworks AI. What impressed us most about Will was his consultative approach and deep understanding of the challenges facing financial institutions. He has a natural ability to build relationships and help senior leaders navigate a challenging compliance landscape. Welcome aboard, Will.
