Yesterday I had the pleasure to attend the Maine Workforce Tourism Summit put on by the Maine Tourism Association at Thomas College in Waterville to meet with seasonal business and talk about the challenges that the hospitality/tourism industry faces in attracting, retaining and housing seasonal workers. Also heard about a lot of state and community resources and opportunities for overcoming mental health issues, finding or creating seasonal housing, interpreting the imminent Maine paid medical leave law, and networks to employ veterans and individuals with special needs as well as the Summer Work Travel program.
