Following the CBI (Confederation of British Industry)'s news this week that the UK net zero sector is growing faster than the rest of the #economy, the Climate Change Committee has today published its advice to the #UK #government on its pathway towards achieving its #NetZero by 2025 obligation. ?? Good news...again! "This country has a prosperous and secure future ahead. The fossil fuel age is over..." The #UK's #netzero sector is growing three times faster than the rest of the economy, according to analysis released by the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) this morning. To quote Rt Hon Rachel Reeves last month: "“There is no tradeoff between economic growth and net zero. Quite the opposite. This week's good news sees a breakthrough in wind turbine technology. German company Voodin Blade Technology has developed all-timber wind turbine blades that are cheaper and stronger than traditional carbon fiber blades, as well as having much better end of life recycling options. This morning we celebrate some #conservation successes reported last week: ?? the 1,500% increase in populations of the Sombrero Ground Lizard. The lizard’s habitat had been destroyed by mice and in 2018, there were less than 100 individuals left. Thanks to conservation efforts by Fauna & Flora , the population has now increased to over 1,600. https://lnkd.in/err7KSs2.. ?? It's an uncertain time for #sustainability reporting, with major global policy shifts away from #ESG coming hot on the heels of a year of rapid regulatory development. Businesses are confused, and probably not a little bit annoyed now that they've started investing in data and systems to comply. A recent survey from Workiva reveals that 85% of executives are?progressing their disclosure plans, regardless of what happens to mandatory requirements like #CSRD. As Tensie Whelan says in her introduction to the report: "establishing a focus on material sustainability issues, with both an opportunity and a risk lens, meaningfully drives enterprise value."
