The Green Chair Project

We are incredibly grateful to Triangle Area Office Building Association (TRAOBA) for inviting us, as well as?A Place at the Table?and Reverence Farms, to be the a part of their Battle of the Broker Bands fundraiser! What a fun night it was - we loved collaborating with other local non-profits, all while listening to great music! Over $50,000 was raised, which will provide beds and cribs for 80 children, 2,000 meals, and 11 generators. Their support allows us to continue our mission of serving the over 6,000 children in Wake County without a bed or crib of their own.

Downsizing? Redecorating? Cleaning out those closets and cupboards? Now's the perfect time to donate furniture, accessories, decor, shoes, clothes, and technology! We’re hosting a Veteran’s Day Drive-Thru Donation Drive, with our community partner, Bank of America. Monday, November 11 10am to 3pm 1853 Capital Boulevard, Raleigh We’re excited to be joined by our amazing partners, Note in the Pocket (clothing and shoes) and Kramden Institute (technology), who will also be onsite accepting donations.

We had such an exciting time last night at Triangle Area Office Building Association (TRAOBA)'s Battle of the Broker Bands! We were honored to be co-beneficiaries of their proceeds, along with A Place at the Table. Thanks to TRAOBA's generosity, 80 children in Wake County will have Sweeter Dreams.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of life and catastrophic destruction that has occurred in western North Carolina. We are grateful to all who have reached out to The Green Chair Project on behalf of our neighbors in that part of our state. Like many of you, we are eager to help. We are in conversations with the American Red Cross and other agencies engaged in the affected counties on the ways TGCP can serve. Our opportunities to support our Western NC neighbors will begin when the agencies request our services for stabilization and rehousing efforts. We know there will be great need for furniture and household items over the coming months, and that our generous community will be at the ready to help. This team of dedicated individuals plays a critical role in the lives of all children in Wake County. We’d love to take your gently used furniture and household items to help make a vignette, as pictured above, to help transform a house into a home for families facing homelessness, crisis, or financial hardship. You can drop off dishes, glasses, pots and pans, cookware, linens, decor, or artwork in the green bins at the front of our building. Recently joy filled The Green Chair Project. Thanks to the incredible work of Urban Ministries of Wake County, a mother and her beautiful children, who had previously faced homelessness, moved into a place of their very own! The next step was to help make their place a warm, welcoming home – and we were ready to help.?? ? Many of our clients choose their home furnishings virtually, but those who visit us in person truly enjoy the chance to select from different styled groups of furniture that creates the perfect look and feel for their family.?? ? As the mom sat at a table, picturing mealtime in their new home, she watched her daughter hosting a tea party and her son get comfortable on the couch. In that moment, she knew she had found the perfect furniture arrangement for her family. She expressed the joy and gratitude she felt for those in the community who helped make this possible.?? ? We’d also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donates gently used furniture and household items.
