In late February, Greencare Waste Solutions was privileged to participate in the Zomba City Council’s Waste Management Policy Development at Liwonde Sun Hotel led by the ZCC CEO, Archangel Bakolo. As key contributors, we provided insights on improving waste collection efficiency, aligning operations with environmental regulations, and strengthening the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that guide private waste management companies. This policy will play a vital role in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable city by standardizing waste management practices and fostering accountability. Following this milestone, we took further action by leading a clean-up and tree-planting campaign in Zomba, an initiative aimed at both sanitation promotion and disaster preparedness. The event, graced by the Zomba City Council Mayor, was a collaboration with the Disaster and Risk Management Committee and the Chambo Ward Waste Management Committee, reinforcing our commitment to community-driven solutions and institutional partnerships. A key aspect of our approach is the circular economy. The waste collected during the clean-up was transported to our recycling facility, where it is now being processed into compost. This not only reduces landfill waste but also supports sustainable agriculture through organic fertilizers—proving that responsible waste management goes beyond disposal. At Greencare, we believe that true impact is achieved through collaboration. By working with local government, community-based organizations, and residents, we are building a sustainable, cleaner, and disaster-resilient Zomba. Together, we are not just managing waste; we are creating a greener future. #Sustainability #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy #Collaboration #GreencareWasteSolutions #ZombaCity
