Let's work together to create Green Actioneers, a worldwide family-powered and school-centered movement for a sustainable Planet. We'll start in North America in 2024 with schools holding Green Actioneers Family Nights. Families go through our "Green Actioneers Activity Book," take home a free digital copy or a print copy, and work on saving energy, water and money, posting their wins on sticky notes on a chart in the hallway of the school. Let's take the program worldwide ASAP to help families everywhere "go green." After a school gets started they can organize girls, boys and parents into the larger movement. We'll hold a weekly Zoom meeting to keep the program moving starting in 2024. For any one school the program starts with Green Actioneers Family Night where kids and parents get our bilingual 8 1/2" X 11" Activity Book detailing 108 actions to reduce carbon and water footprints. The book has a two-page spread in English and Spanish for each action, a coloring book feature for younger kids, word games for older students and important environmental quotes from famous people. 1. Any school can start the program themselves using the energy of a few "green-hearted" parents or teachers; 2. Every family gets a digital book for free, but schools can pre-pay $10 each for enough Green Actioneers Activity Books for all families and them distribute them to families for the cover price of $19.95 or any amount they wish; 3. School Green Team or PTA can earn significant referral fees from local "green" vendors when parents make purchases; 4. Families save money with lower electric and water bills; 5. Kids get recognition for their "green Actions;" 6. We all get a sustainable future. What we are doing is what was done with recycling, littering, seat belt use, anti-smoking - mobilizing the youth to a new awareness and getting them to help parents participate.

Among my lifelong heroes Jane Goodall has always been on the top of the list. When I learned she was coming to Florida to launch her Roots and Shoots program in the Tampa Bay Area I had no idea how I would get to meet her and show her the "Green Actioneers Family Action Guide." But kismet intervened in the person of Carole Colvin who arranged for Spencer Jourdain, our neighbor, to meet Jane, and I was the chauffeur. Thanks Carole and Spencer and Mary Ford for making this happen.
Let's start "Scouting for the 21st Century" for k-5 & k-8 families to create local "troops" to get us all to a clean and green future.
I was privileged to serve as the chauffeur driving my friend, Spencer Jourdain, to St. Pete, FL, where he got to reminisce with Jane Goodall about their mutual time in Africa in the early 1960's when she was discovering her love for chimpanzees and he was helping Harvard test out a concept that became the Peace Corps. Also in the photo is Carole Colvin, who works with Spencer to develop and market Cafe Solar, solar-dried sustainable coffee that helps reduce deforestation.

Dave Finnigan, MPH, believes that instead of a top-down approach to sustainability, we can get further faster by shifting consumer demand - mobilizing school kids to shift things in their own home and community. Imagine Girl Scouts / Boy Scouts but for going green. That’s what he’s promoting with Green Actioneers. His previous work was in South East Asia helping with cultural paradigm shifts that assisted in raising the median income from under $1,000/yr to $35,000/yr. His previous book sold over 1,000,000 copies. He's looking to combine those two successes with this new focus, getting his sustainability Scout Handbook of sorts into the hands of the rising generation. He's 82 years old and going strong and has funded this entirely from his own pocket. Here is my 3 minute interview with Jack Canfield, author of the "Chicken Soup" book series. I'm looking for a "green" organization with an existing team that wants to make $ millions and have a significant impact on the planet. If this is your organization, get in touch. THE PROBLEM?- Schools start teaching about climate issues in high school which is too late. THE SOLUTION?- Over 60 undergraduate interns at University of Central Florida helped create a system for bringing?ALL?the elementary and middle school kids and their parents onboard a program to get families everywhere to "go green" using our 246 page large format?"Green Actioneers Family Action Guide." THE MOVEMENT?- Every family can join our "Green Actioneers”?movement with no restrictions on age, gender or belief. We give?them a free digital copy?of the book at Green Actioneers Family Night at school courtesy of your organization. They work their way through it taking "green actions" one at a time.?Instead of merit badges we put up a chart on the wall in the school where kids can put up a sticky note every time their family takes an action from the book. Kids will look at the chart every day and decide on the next step to urge their parents accomplish.?Our book does not mention "trigger words" like "global warming" so it is ecumenical and no parents will march into the principal’s office with objections.?Below is an illustration from the book showing that chart which is intended to be the motor for an ongoing program. Now I’m on a search for our first school where they will be proud to be known as?“The School Where it Started,” and?implement the program exactly as described in the book (on pages xii and xiii). I have over 500 hot leads from “green-hearted” PTA Moms from TX, FL and CA that I can give to you.?There are numerous ways to make this project pay off monetarily with the benefit accruing to your organization as the “parent” for the program. BOOK SALES?- We happily give the digital book for free to every family. It costs $9 to get a print book to the school with a cover price of $20. Many families will want a print copy. Your organization and the school "Green Team" can split the $11 profit. QR CODES?- There is?plenty of room for QR codes for suppliers?of over 50 products or services explained in the book.?Those suppliers can be asked to agree to give discounts to families who use the QR codes along with rebates to your organization. SPONSORSHIP?- We can put in full page ads throughout the book and essentially sell the "naming rights" to the book to many vendors, with the payment for these ads going to?your organization. Need a tech partner for Nationwide Green Actioneers program Your tech company might like to oversee the tech side of our positive project, to get families in the US and elsewhere to "go green" without reference to the potential downside of "carbon catastrophe." Here is how the program works.?Families come to "Green Actioneers Family Night," which is like Scholastic Books Book Fair but with only one book.?Every family gets a print book handed to them as they come into the space.?They go through the book choosing from among the 100 explained actions.?Kids raise their hands and one by one they declare an action they'll take. The other kids all jump up and shout "We can do that too."?Even some of the grownups jump up.??Then the person on stage (who we call "Professor Green") get parents to volunteer to be on the "Green Team" for the school. The Green Team creates a chart in the hallway where families put up a PostIt note every time they take a green action.?That chart is like a scout merit badge sash, a motivator to get families to act. Even if only a small percentage of the school attends it'll become the talk of the school and eventually everyone will join the "game." For a $20 contribution families can get the print book, but we give a digital link to every family in the school who wants to participate, so everyone can join in the fun.?This is a "culture change program," not a "book sales program." What we need next is a digital equivalent of the chart on the wall.?Then homeschool families can join and everyone can see what their neighbors have been up to by checking the graphic online or on the wall in the school.??Also we need an online meeting place where families can show others their accomplishments and see what everyone is doing. Yes, we will be using a huge number of PostIt notes, but if we do this right one pack of 100 PosIt notes will give a family a zero-carbon footprint.?An online version will certainly use some energy to keep it up to date. There is a graphic on page 15 in the book showing the chart on the wall. We need help with our website, promotion, and recruiting "green-hearted" adults to become “Professor Green.”?To that end I have a database on Constant Contact of over 500 "green-hearted moms" who I met when I presented this idea as a speaker and exhibitor at over a dozen trade shows like the CA, TX, FL PTA conventions and the national Montessori Schools and National School librarians conventions. Now that we have that database it is time to put everyone in a funnel and launch.?I'm also going to the National Publicity Summit once we're ready to launch.
