Just released: "Climate Safe Neighborhoods: A Community Collaboration for a More Climate-Resilient Future"! Published by the Community Science Exchange, a platform that shares science performed by and with communities, this manuscript details the work and outcomes of Climate Safe Neighborhoods (CSN) in Northern Kentucky. Some of the document's highlights include resident engagement, community workshops, and generation of neighborhood climate impact maps. The work included in this text was led by Groundwork Ohio River Valley, Northern Kentucky University , and Green Umbrella. Nikki will present a comprehensive overview of the current clean energy funding landscape, including eligibility criteria. If you own or manage a commercial, public, or multi-family property, and you have been thinking about a clean energy upgrade, this is a great step towards making those plans reality!

Key leadership from Cincinnati Public Schools, the City of Cincinnati, and partner organizations recently convened to work on expanding greenspace at school campuses. The focus of the meeting was creating plans for maintaining existing outdoor education spaces before breaking ground on new sites. Organizations and stakeholders are collaborating to meet the education goals of the Green Cincinnati Plan, which includes all CPS schools having safe and accessible outdoor learning space by 2028. Among other benefits, outdoor learning spaces can be used as training sites for green workforce development for students. The meeting was moderated by Green Umbrella’s Cynthia Walters and Kirsten Brademeyer from Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and supported by the office of Councilmember Meeka Owens. Applications are now open for Green Umbrella's 2025 Climate Action Fellowship program! This program pairs a Fellow - undergrad/graduate students and individuals who want to pivot careers into the climate space - with a Green Umbrella member government in order to support local climate action planning. Government hosts receive training, planning support, and implementation capacity while Fellows receive invaluable training, experience, and professional development support within the public climate sector. The Fellowship is free/subsidized for participating governments. Fellows receive a $6,000 stipend. Attention Winton Hills residents: join your Community Advisory Group! Groundwork Ohio River Valley and Green Umbrella are actively seeking residents of Winton Hills in Cincinnati to participate in a Community Advisory Group (CAG). The CAG is a PAID focus group aiming to address issues like flooding, heat, air pollution. No experience is needed to participate. CAG members must be willing to meet in person for at least an hour and a half for five weeks and be at least 14 years old to participate.
