A startup working to bring nature based solutions for cleaner water and sustainable agriculture.
关于我们
Phytoflora is revolutionizing the fight against water pollution with its pioneering green infrastructure, employing floating treatment wetlands that replicate the purifying power of natural wetlands. By integrating age-old indigenous practices from Latin America, our innovative approach utilizes hydroponically grown plants on floating rafts to cleanse waterways, while simultaneously cultivating marketable crops such as cut-flowers. This not only addresses nutrient pollution but also creates a sustainable model that supports and scales our environmental efforts through the resale of these crops.

?? Exciting News! ?? We’re happy to share our collaboration with Plantaer to create a new collection of eco-friendly floating planters that combine cutting-edge design with natural beauty. Floating wetlands are an excellent tool for supporting vibrant, healthy ecosystems, but many rely on synthetic materials that don’t always align with our commitment to sustainability. That’s why we’ve partnered with Plantaer to craft a boutique collection of floating planters encased in a unique, biophilic clay-like concrete — designed to mimic the natural limestone aesthetic found in South Florida. These non-toxic planters support plant growth and foster beneficial microorganisms, helping to create a self-sustaining, thriving ecosystem in your pond or garden. These pieces will best suit small ponds seeking to bring the benefit of floating wetlands to their botanical garden. Would you be ready to transform your water feature into a vibrant, sustainable space? ?? Learn more about how our new collection can bring lasting ecological benefits to your environment! #EcoDesign #SustainableLandscaping #FloatingWetlands #BiophilicDesign #WaterGardens #Sustainability #Partnerships #Innovation #Plantaer #Phytoflora

Stoked to be a part of a great review article on the state of SFL water in the Sun Sentinel!
?? This is great! A hopeful piece of news for South Florida’s waters: — Broward County seems to have healthier coral than Biscayne Bay. — Biscayne Bay’s decimated seagrass is showing signs of a comeback. — Floating flower beds are being created to suck up water pollution. @Jazmin Locke-Rodriguez PhD ?? — Lego-like modules are being installed to help fight storm surge. Kudos to everyone involved in these efforts! https://lnkd.in/gXmJkAHQ By Bill Kearney

The Oxygen Project did such a great job outlining agriculture's role, good and bad, in our watersheds health. Regenerative farming has the capacity to heal our waters, and here at Phytoflora we push that to the limit by directly practicing regenerative production right on the water- to leave it better than we found it through the remediation of nutrient pollution.
Regeneration is not just about land, it’s also about protecting and healing our watersheds,?and?right now we have an opportunity to make regeneration a bigger part of U.S. policy, for the benefit of land and sea, and everything in between. Kiss the Ground’s campaign to Regenerate America is a bipartisan coalition of farmers, businesses, nonprofits, and citizens working together to transform the Farm Bill, which?is up for renewal, and the next version of this bill will determine federal farming funds for the next 5-7 years. If the government understands the economic and ecological importance of supporting regenerative agriculture, farming can become a tool for climate healing. The rainy season is here! And with it comes the intense heat of summers. Combined? Be prepared for decreased water quality conditions...potential algae blooms this summer are predicted to cost the state of Florida upwards of a billion dollars this year (https://lnkd.in/eBgXpcd5). Reducing our applications of fertilizers especially during this time period is one way to help mitigate this impact.
??As Miami-Dade County enters the rainy season, the use of fertilizers containing nitrogen and phosphorus is prohibited from May 15 through Oct. 31. ?? Fertilizers applied during our intense rainy season have the potential to wash away into our surface waters through storm drains, canals, or direct discharges, reducing the benefit to lawns of costly fertilizer applications. ?? Fertilizers contain nutrients that can be harmful to the ecosystems found in our waterways, especially Biscayne Bay. ?? Excess nutrients pollution from our urban watershed is affecting the health of Biscayne Bay and has contributed to seagrass die-offs, algae blooms, and fish kills in the Bay. ?? Do your part to help protect Biscayne Bay by following the regulations set forth in the fertilizer ordinance: ?? The use of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer is prohibited during the summer rainy season, May 15 - Oct. 31 ?? Application of fertilizer near surface water bodies such as canals, wetlands, lakes or the Bay is prohibited ?? Do not use phosphorus containing fertilizer unless a soil test determines that it is actually needed ?? Limit the amount of nitrogen you apply at any one time or during the year ?? Manage yard clippings to prevent them from affecting streets, sidewalks, stormwater drainage systems ????♂? If you apply fertilizers as part of your job, get trained on the best management practices that help protect water resources. The fertilizer ordinance applies to commercial and residential fertilizer applicators and anyone who performs landscape management. Make sure you know the rules and remain in compliance with the ordinance. #miami #miamidade #miamidadecounty #officeofresilience #resilience #resilientcommunities #resilient305?#sustainable #sustainability #biscaynebay #ProtectBiscayneBay #protectourbay #southflorida #protectourbay #beach #ourjobisbeach #fertilizer #fertilizerordinance #starttodaytosavethebay
