Our video case study for sustainable HPC (Computational Fluid Dynamics) running on GPUs in Liquid Immersion is finally here WUT Racing CodeZero have run aerodynamics simulation using Ansys Fluent on our Dell Technologies R750s, funded by Intel Corporation with NVIDIA A40s, running Nutanix Acropolis and ADSF. We used just a single virtual machine with 64x vCPU, 128GB vRAM and a single A40 running in Liquid Immersion Cooling to execute the simulation 3x quicker than the HPC cluster the Aerodynamics team (WUTR) have access to. A huge thank you to bp Castrol, Green Revolution Cooling, CentersquareDC, UNICOM Engineering and CADFEM (UK-IE) for the support! Next up is running a 140,000,000 cell mesh with WUTR to simulate running CFD simulations on a F1 Racing car. We know we can do this far quicker, far cheaper and 100% more sustainable than current HPC clusters :)
