The use of wood fuel, particularly by rural women and girls for cooking in small, smoky, and poorly ventilated thatched kitchens, has led to severe respiratory and eye infections, impacting their health significantly. Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promoted through #climatefinancing for #CleanEnergy, can bring substantial health benefits by decreasing air pollution. ActionAid Zimbabwe is implementing a School Feeding Programme (SFP) in 27 schools located in the Makoni and Wedza districts. This initiative targets schools that are part of its three Local Rights Programmes (LRPs): Chiendambuya, Nyazura, and Hwedza. The objective of the Programme is to cushion school children from the impact of the El Nino induced drought, promote school attendance and active participation of children in class, and improve the children’s nutrition.
