Last week, we visited an Alabama Power Company plant in Wilsonville, AL. During that time, we discussed the latest developments in carbon capture and storage technologies. We also learned about the contributions of Southern Company and the National Carbon Capture Center in driving these advancements. #greendiamondrc
We were thrilled to host Green Diamond Resource Company last week at the NCCC. Our discussions focused on the current state of carbon capture and storage technologies and the pivotal role Southern Company and the NCCC play in advancing these critical processes. Green Diamond, a sixth-generation forestland owner founded in 1890, manages approximately 2.2 million acres of forestland across the U.S., primarily in the northwest and southeast. Their dedication to sustainable forest management aligns perfectly with our mission to foster technologies that enhance environmental innovation and sustainability. A big thank you to Alabama Power Company Power corporate real estate for facilitating this visit.

We are ringing in the new year and the start of winter with a #SeasonalSafetyTip! Staying safe takes heart ?? (and training)! Whether you’re at work or at home, cardiac arrest—an abrupt loss of heart function—can occur at any time and can be fatal. Luckily, cardiac arrest may be reversed if CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is performed, which compresses the heart and aids blood circulation, and/or an AED (automated external defibrillator) is used, which shocks the heart and restores normal heart rhythm. According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double or triple a person's chance of survival after cardiac arrest. Likewise, 9 in 10 cardiac arrest victims survive if they receive a shock from an AED in the first minute. That’s why it’s important for you and your coworkers to be trained in CPR and AED use—you just might save a life! Here are some tips to be ready for cardiac arrest: - Keep your CPR/AED certification up to date. Certifications are typically valid for 2 years, and new research may alter training protocols over time. - Ensure there is an AED unit available in your building. If you’re traveling to a remote location, consider bringing one along. - In the event of an emergency, stay calm and remember your training. Taking immediate action can make all the difference. Stay #safe out there! #greendiamondrc #workingforests #forestproud #safety #hearthealth #cardiacarrest #cpr #aed #cprtraining #takeaction
