Supporting America's Special Forces Soldiers and Their Families
关于我们
The United States Army Special Forces, commonly known as the Green Berets, produces some of our nation’s finest and most elite warriors. They fight across a broad spectrum of missions in the pursuit of freedom for those oppressed and to protect our nation from those who seek to do us harm. They are known as our country's quiet professionals. The Green Berets have been defending our nation against its enemies throughout the last 5 decades in times of peace and war. The liberties we enjoy as Americans don’t come without a cost. The Special Forces bear the burden of having the highest number of wounded personnel of any other U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) proponent. The Green Beret Foundation serves these quiet professionals who bravely serve the American people and its freedoms. In an effort to fill the gaps in support left by the boundaries of other organizations, the GBF facilitates assistance to our wounded, ill and injured Special Forces soldiers and their families. We do this by providing resources to ease the burdens of some of the financial hardships that arise in their time of need as well as improving the quality of life for the soldier and the family.

As pictured, President John F. Kennedy visited Brigadier General William Yarborough at the Army’s Special Warfare Center at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg), North Carolina, on October 12, 1961. This significant meeting outlined President Kennedy’s vision for a counterinsurgency force, which later evolved into the Green Beret soldier. For 15 years, the Green Beret Foundation has stood by Green Beret families, providing ongoing support, especially to children facing life-threatening health conditions. One such story involves the young son of an active-duty Green Beret family battling severe, life-threatening allergies. The family was accepted into a specialized out-of-state treatment program requiring a 4-6 year commitment. While TRICARE covered appointments, it did not cover travel costs or the $4,500 annual program fee. That’s where GBF stepped in, committing to support the family throughout the entire treatment journey, ensuring this remarkable boy could get the care he needed. Thanks to this treatment, he can now enter middle school without being segregated at an allergy table for the first time since preschool. He can finally enjoy Halloween candy, savor frozen yogurt for the first time, and be safe from peanut oils. This support has not only transformed his life but also brought peace of mind to his entire family. This is what we do: provide the support Green Berets and their families need to thrive, and we’ll continue doing so for many years to come. Curiosity isn’t just about asking questions; it’s about having the courage to act despite the possibility of failure. Without the willingness to try, and maybe get it wrong, we will never improve. The Commanding General of United States Army Special Operations Command, LTG John Braga, is ready to drive change, whether the force gets it right or wrong. For the past 15 years, the Green Beret Foundation has stood by Green Berets and their families, especially in their toughest moments. On this World Mental Health Day, we reaffirm our commitment through the MSG Andrew Marckesano Suicide Prevention Fund (#AndysFund). Established in 2020, this fund offers vital support and mental health resources whenever they are needed. The surviving family of Master Sgt. Andrew C. Marckesano, who died by suicide, shared the following message: "We would like to congratulate the Green Beret Foundation on its 15th anniversary. GBF has helped us transform the immense tragedy of losing Andy into #AndysFund. This fund is dedicated to preventing suicide and promoting mental health and wellness. The incredible work that GBF does in providing mental health services to Green Berets and their families offers a lifeline where other organizations may not fully understand or meet these specific needs. Here's to many more years of impact and partnership." — Pat, Kat, and Michele Marckesano Donate to #AndysFund: https://lnkd.in/dda-EKqB #HereWhenYouNeedUs #WorldMentalHealthDay #GreenBeretFoundation #MentalHealthMatters #GBFStrongerTogether #GBF15
