Due to severe injuries and being miles away from physical therapy, having this device at home was vital to his recovery. Standards and discipline are at the core of a professional Army. So how is the US Army ensuring that today’s soldiers uphold these values? Sergeant Major of the Army Mike Weimer defines his success in the role by his ability to reinforce basic Army standards. This begins with a new blue handbook being distributed to every soldier, reminding them that being a Spartan requires hard work and commitment to professionalism and leadership. The SMA also explains the professional warfighting relationship between commissioned and non-commissioned officers, emphasizing the art and science behind their roles. Additionally, he shares how his experience in the shadows of Special Forces prepared him for the leadership challenges in his current position.
