Huge thanks to Emerson for their generous $2 million contribution to the Brickline Greenway, which will go toward the Spring Ave.?segment, which will connect Lindell Blvd. to Page Ave., linking north St. Louis with the Grand Center Arts District and key locations like Saint Louis University and City Foundry STL. Both CEOs are ready to get this built for our community! (Pictured at left: Susan Trautman, CEO Great Rivers Greenway and Lal Karsanbhai, President & CEO Emerson)

Join us this Thursday Feb. 13 (5-7) pm at 18Rails at City Foundry for an open house to learn more about the Brickline Greenway: Midtown I-64 Crossing. Learn more about the project, review the corridor, meet with the design team and provide input! This 0.52 mile segment will span 8 city blocks from Laclede Avenue south on Spring Street and across Forest Park Avenue past City Foundry STL. A new greenway bridge will go above the east-bound lanes and below the west-bound lanes of I-64/40, bridging through the current barrier created by the interstate to the Grand MetroLink Station on the south side, offering easier access to nearby destinations along the way, including Saint Louis University, City Foundry STL and the Grand MetroLink station. We recently installed new lifesaving outdoor Automatic Electric Defibrillators (AEDs) at Chain of Rocks Park and Trojan Park on the St. Vincent Greenway. If a park visitor experiences sudden cardiac arrest, this device can be used to restore heart rhythm and summon emergency services. There are clear instruction on how to use them and they require no training. They are usually found inside buildings, but less often in outdoor spaces. (Right now, outdoor AEDs are more common in Europe.) These two greenway parks attract a lot of visitors for events, picnics, reunions etc. and we are happy to have them accessible to all visitors in case of a cardiac emergency.
