What a year for Greater Than Tech! 2024 was a year of growth, impact, and innovation! We’re so proud of everything we’ve accomplished. Here’s a look at some of our biggest wins: ??Introduced 500+ students to STEM, entrepreneurship, and professional development. ??Hosted 3 hands-on programs in robotics and cybersecurity. ??Led 4 inspiring tech tours at General Atomics, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Quartus Engineering, and SDSU Rocket Project ??Celebrated 2 years of the GTT Alumnae Club & awarded our annual Alumnae Scholarship to capstone participants. ??Partnered with e3 Civic High for a Community Program & Demo Day. ??Created a STEM kit activity for the American Heart Association. ??Hired 6 interns for their first technical work experience. ??Collaborated with amazing organizations like San Diego Foundation USD Black Ingenious Initiative, National University and San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE) to bring more opportunities to students. ??Received pro-bono support from mission-aligned organizations. (See previous posts)? ??Honored as finalists for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Lead Visionary Community Leadership Award and recognized at the San Diego County Juneteenth celebration. ??Our Executive Director Jasmine LeFlore, MSE, MBA became a TEDxSanDiego speaker, featured in Justina Sanchez Extraordinary Engineers Vol. II, and was the Keynote Speaker for CreativeMornings VISION. ??Our Director of Education Brittany Wheeler, D.ENG was featured in The San Diego Union-Tribune, named 40 Under 40 Emerging Leaders, and spoke at multiple influential STEM events. ??Panelists at the Women of Color Spring 2024 Workshop? ??Organized Tech Over Tapas fundraiser for the second year! ?And we just want to say THANK YOU!! ?? Yet, Black voices in STEM are still underrepresented, and with DEI programs being cut, access to opportunities is shrinking. ?? Defy Gravity with Greater Than Tech! ?? We’re thrilled to launch our 2025 Space Prototyping Program in partnership with Equity Space Alliance and e3 Civic High! This 13-week journey will empower students to design and develop experiments for zero-gravity flights! ?? The program runs from January 30 – May 1st, 2025, meeting on Thursdays from 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM at e3 Civic High. It all culminates in an exciting Demo Day in May, where students will showcase their projects to STEM professionals, industry leaders, and the community. Only 4 spots left!
